The thriving music venue that is now the Tower of Song began as a derelict building on the outskirts of Birmingham, England. Bucking the trend of theme pubs, sports bars, and karaoke joints where music is an afterthought, Tom Martin set out to create a unique venue where music was the sole focus. The name, derived from a song by Leonard Cohen, reflects the mission of the venue, which is to preserv

e the integrity of live music, respect the performing artist, and offer the audience an opportunity to experience live music in an intimate, quality setting. Many volunteers helped in the construction of the Tower of Song, inspired by the vision to come together as a community and create something unique. Local artist Mike Browning painted a series of murals on the walls, featuring seminal musicians, singers and songwriters such as Bob Dylan, Janice Joplin, The Beatles, Bob Marley, and the latest – Tom Martin and his band. Mike Browning also created a major work of art outside the building – a distinctive ‘cutout’of legendary Mississippi bluesman Robert Johnson. The Tower of Song features music to suit all tastes, and each night of the week has a different theme. Emerging artists are encouraged to sign up for one of the open mic evenings.Most shows start from 8:30-9PM. Exceptions are Sunday events that run from 8-10PM. Mon and Tues: (Closed except for special events)

Thurs: Crossroads Blues Club (weekly blues night with open jam on last thurs of the month)
Fridays: Check Listings

Join us tomorrow for our last outdoor gig at the Tower of this season. We’ll be gathering outside the venue on Sunday 30th of August to say goodbye to summer with some great live music. Weather permitting of course, pop by the Tower next Sunday (23rd Aug) for Roots on a Summers Day, our first foray back into live music at the Tower. There will be tables and chairs outside and a variety of artists playing from 2PM. Come enjoy some live music and have a drink with us!

Hello lovely Tower Supporters!

So wonderfully happy to know that the Tower will be able to pay its bills through the next few months because of you all. We were able to raise 105% (£5270) of our goal and had 142 supporters. Crowdfunder isn't taking any fees so all of your money will go straight to supporting Tower of Song.

Thank you all for the generosity you've shown. We've really felt the deep sense of community that exists - even when the venue isn't open. It speaks to us about how the magic of the Tower exists inside all of you as well as that wonderfully quirky building and it makes our hearts glad and hopeful that soon we'll be able to commune there together again.

I can't believe the Tower of Song Crowdfunder is currently at 93%! Thanks to everyone who made this happen - We're so close and it's such a relief to know that the bills will be paid and Tom can rest easy and not feel pressure to reopen until it's safe to do so.
