Had an absolutely fantastic afternoon celebrating a very special 70th birthday with an amazing family! 🥃🎉

The tasting was organised as a surprise by the birthday boy’s daughter-in-law (who proudly admitted she was the only English one in a family full of Scots! 😄), and it made for a brilliant afternoon of laughs, stories and, of course, whisky.

One of my favourite moments was watching everyone’s reaction to the food pairings. There were plenty of raised eyebrows at first, but by the end of the tasting everyone was pleasantly surprised by just how much the right food can transform a dram.

That’s exactly what Barrel & Bond is all about—bringing people together, creating memories and showing that whisky is far more than just a drink. It’s an experience to be shared.

A huge thank you for inviting me to be part of such a special milestone. Happy 70th once again, and here’s to many more celebrations! 🥃

🥃 What better way to round off an unforgettable trip in Scotland than with a dram in hand?

It was an absolute pleasure to host a whisky tasting for the fantastic alumni of Goodenough College during their reunion at . Their final evening began with a journey through Scotland’s national spirit, exploring six exceptional whiskies, each served with a food pairing to bring out the flavour and share the stories behind each distillery, and the rich history that makes Scotch whisky so special.

The group were an incredibly entertaining audience, full of laughter, great questions and plenty of enthusiasm. Watching everyone discover new favourites and share a dram together is exactly what Barrel & Bond is all about.

To make the evening even more memorable, the tasting was followed by a traditional Scottish cèilidh—a perfect finale to their Scottish adventure. 🍂🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

🥃 Building Connections, One Conversation at a Time

This week I had the pleasure of attending The Meetings Show in London, meeting so many fantastic event planners, venues, agencies and corporate professionals from across the UK.

It was brilliant to see first-hand how much businesses are investing in creating memorable experiences for their teams and clients. The conversations reinforced something I’ve always believed – the best events aren’t just organised, they’re experienced.

At Barrel & Bond, that’s exactly what I aim to deliver. Whether it’s a corporate networking event, team-building session, client entertainment evening or conference, every whisky tasting is designed to be interactive, engaging and memorable. Great whisky is only part of the experience; it’s the stories, conversations and shared moments that people remember long afterwards.

🥃 BIG NEWS… Barrel & Bond is heading to its very first festival! 🎪

This July, I’ll be bringing Barrel & Bond Whisky Tastings to the amazing — and honestly, I couldn’t be more excited.

If you know me, you’ll know I love bringing people together through whisky, stories, flavour, and a bit of fun — so the chance to do that at a festival feels pretty special.

I’ll be hosting relaxed, interactive whisky tastings throughout the weekend, giving festival-goers the chance to explore a curated range of whiskies, discover flavour profiles, learn a little whisky knowledge (without it ever feeling too serious 😅), and hopefully find a new favourite dram along the way.

Whether you’re completely new to whisky or already know your way around a bottle, there’ll be something for everyone.

One of the best parts about what I do is discovering whisky in places you wouldn’t expect…

Down in Falmouth, I stopped by and got stuck into their Hell’s Stones whisky 🥃

This one’s got real character — think rich, slightly smoky notes balanced with a touch of sweetness and spice. Not your typical dram, but that’s exactly the point. It’s bold, a bit rebellious, and properly memorable.

What I loved most was tasting it at the source. You get the full picture — the story behind it, the passion that goes into it, and how it’s meant to be enjoyed. That’s something you just don’t get off a shelf.

It’s a good reminder that whisky isn’t just about the big names — there’s a whole world of craft producers doing seriously interesting things if you’re willing to look for it.

And trust me… I’ll be bringing a few of these finds into future tastings 👀

Not your average night at the barracks 🪖🥃

Had the pleasure of hosting a whisky tasting at an Officers’ Mess — and what a crowd. Properly engaged, full of questions, and up for exploring something new.

We travelled through a range of drams… but one stood out 👀
Hibiki Harmony made such an impression it earned a permanent spot behind the bar — not a bad result!

Edinburgh didn’t happen… so we brought Edinburgh to them 🥃🏴

This stag do at turned into a proper night to remember with our Around the World in 80 Drams experience 🌍

From quality whiskies to… some very questionable Chinese whisky (yes, it got tasted 😂), the lads were all in from start to finish.

Big laughs, great atmosphere, and a top group to host — exactly what a stag do should be.
