We try to steer clear of any political issues but with pubs closing at a rate of 2 a day this year we felt we had to get on board with lobbying the government to reduce VAT for hospitality. For every pound spent 40p goes to HMRC and the rest just about covers stock, utilities, staff, insurance and so many more overheads, - most pubs are lucky to make even a few pence profit per pint.
