Alongside her primary role of operations assistant, Katherine has been training in the studio. Gradually working up from medal cleaning, polishing, ribbon bars, beckets and more recently her greatest feat yet, a group of 5 large and miniature medals.

Not just any group, these precious medals belong to her family and are on their way to being framed, to showcase them perfectly.

Everyone knows there's more to running a small business than what's shown on social media.

We take alot of pride in medal cleaning and polishing, and after medals are mounted, large medal groups are placed in baggies, with anti-tarnish strips which help to prevent the gasses that cause tarnish and silica beads which help eliminate moisture. The less that your medals require polishing, the better - and we're starting to see medal sets return for the addition of medals in these baggies, and they've remained in great condition.

After this, they're placed in a felt pouch for storage. We always advise that when you're not wearing your medals, wipe them down with a clean cotton wool ball to remove any dirt or fingerprints, and place them back in their baggie for storage.

These steps are all included as part of our large medal mounting service, because we're not just about medal mounting, we're focusing on longevity and medal preservation.
