A Gentle Reminder About Your Health and Safety
As many of you know, my classes are about much more than exercise, they're about supporting your health, wellbeing, confidence and enjoyment of movement. Over the last couple of months, however, there have been two medical emergencies during classes where I have had to stop the session and assist the member involved. Thankfully, both individuals received the help they needed, but it has prompted me to send this important reminder.
Please only attend class if you feel fit and well enough to exercise. Whether it's a dance/fitness class, Fitness Pilates, or Yoga, movement places additional demands on the body, including the heart, lungs, muscles and joints. If you are feeling unwell, recovering from illness or injury, undergoing medical investigations, receiving treatment, or have been advised to modify your activity levels, please let me know. There may be times when it is safer and more beneficial to take a short break from classes or attend one of my gentler, lower-impact sessions until you have fully recovered.
I care deeply about every member who attends my classes, and I take my duty of care very seriously. However, your safety also depends on you being honest about your health and taking personal responsibility for whether you are well enough to participate. If you are experiencing symptoms such as dizziness, unusual fatigue, chest pain, shortness of breath, or anything else that causes concern, please do not attend class until you have sought appropriate advice and feel confident that you can exercise safely.
Thank you for your understanding, honesty and cooperation. By working together, we can continue to keep our classes safe, supportive and enjoyable for everyone.
