2026…

Can’t believe we’re in the middle of January already… from everyone here at The Three Legs we hope you had a great Christmas and New Years. The festive period can be a pretty hectic time for us (and you too I'm sure...) keeping up with orders and getting beer to our beloved pubs, bars and customers as well as making sure everyone has a lovely time at our .taproom and hheist market bar, so apologies for the radio silence… hopefully you enjoyed a few beers anyway…

This isn’t a 2025 wrap (funny how those don’t seem as popular this year after Spotify’s fall from grace…) or a mission statement for 2026… we’ll just be over here continuing to brew beers we love to drink (which we hope you will too!) with the best ingredients we can source, exploring hops and styles, continuing to hone our recipes and brewing methods and perhaps drinking the odd pint along the way… sorry algorithms...

We hope this new year brings you joy, love, adventure and good health and perhaps some nice beer too…

P.S. If you’re currently on the dry Jan wagon apologies for the tempting photo, keep going… we shall see you again soon… but remember to support your local, make up for it in Feb!!!

Cheers!
Prost!
Salut!
X

🍺🍺🍺🙌🙌🙌

Well this is something we don’t usually shout about…

We’re not one for awards and don’t enter competitions and all that. For us taste is subjective and something to be enjoyed by the individual, if you enjoy it and it resonates with you then great, if it’s not for you that’s fine too! There are so many great breweries and producers and we’re just happy to be making something that is enjoyed by others… of course sometimes things go wrong, chillers break, infections can take hold, you miss the mark with a recipe, the hops don’t arrive… the mash temperature is just off… etc.. etc… BUT sometimes… sometimes you make something you know is rather special AND sometimes you know it’s going to be really enjoyed… AND sometimes others let you know they really enjoyed it!

So a big thank you to our friends Brickmakers 27brickmakers for awarding us for our Schwarzbier in their annual beer festival! Part of our Sussex Fassbier range and a beer that truly reflects what we’re trying to o with this series of brews… celebrations of classic European styles with a mix of the best local and European ingredients we can get our hands on… brewed for cask! If you haven’t enjoyed a pint at The Brickmakers get yourself down there, one of the finest cask beer purveyors on the South coast…

And I guess it’s probably right to mention Moosey who wrote the recipe, brewed it, conditioned it and packaged it... the brewing team himself, the engine, the eternal optimist… for a brewer who loves a NEIPA who makes a mean dark beer, well done Moose, you’re alright you.

We still have bottles of this brew if you haven’t tried it yet so head down to threthreelegs.taproom or thethreelegs.hiest and grab one before they go… and keep your eyes peeled for a new brew landing in the new year.

Cheers everyone, we’ll be enjoying a pint this weekend to celebrate!

🚨🚨🚨COLLAB ALERT!🚨🚨🚨

A month or so back (where does time go!!!) Jono headed up to Scotland to brew a big juicy Neipa with in Edinburgh… And Strata Sphere - 6.1% is landing now! Bags of Strata (a mutual fav) Galaxy and Krush (really enjoying this hop at the mo!) bring big ripe tropical fruit aromas. It’s juicy, it’s hazy, big mouthfeel… everything you want from the New England style.

Stewarts Brewing’s set up is crazy and seeing their processes in action was very impressive… and here we were thinking we’d grown a bit in size over the last year or so!!! A big thank you to Michael and Craig for inviting us up there to brew and learn some more about their brewing process… their approaches to sustainability is something that really resonates with us… they even recycle their C02 which they put into canisters and supply to local customers, awesome! You can even go and brew your own beers with them on their small pilot kits... Why go on a brewery tour when you can brew your own beer!!!

We really enjoy their beers (their heavy is top notch) and hope you’ll enjoy our collab when it lands very soon!!

And now for something completely different… our Zwickl!

This beer is the unruly sibling to our Kölsch, rustic and punchy, unfiltered, no holds barred, true Kellerbier. Malt is the centre of attention here with a Vienna and Munich base and Spelt, Rye and Wheat bringing biscuit, spice, pepper and nutty treacle sweetness.

We’ve balanced this richness with a mix of Polish and Slovenian hops with Styrian Wolf on the hot side and a dry hop of Styrian Cardinal, Lubelski and more Styrian Wolf on the cold side bringing pine and herbal notes with floral gooseberry.

Rustic Landbier with a little more haze and fuller mouthfeel than our more well mannered Kölsch.

Available now for trade customers and on the taps at .taproom and .heist

Local Challenger hops from for our Green Hop Kölsch... a workhorse bittering hop with plenty to offer in aroma... spice, cedar and lovely herbaceous floral character which sits nicely next to our fresh green apple and pear ester notes in the Kölsch.

It's always a pleasure to spend time on the farm and have a little wander around sprawling hop fields and the kilns and conveyor belts...

If you've not had a pint of this pale lager yet then head down to our .taproom or for a pint!

Welcome to our Green Hop Kölsch with local Challenger hops from Hukins hops. A clean and crisp lager, balanced and controlled, grab your Stangen glasses and find someone who will keep topping up your glass like the dedicated servers (Köbes) of Köln…

For our spin on this classic lager we’ve followed tradition with a simple lager malt base with a little wheat and acidulated malt to help with pH and achieve a similar water profile to Köln… there’s a delicate honey and biscuit malt profile… for bitterness and aroma we’ve replaced the traditional noble hops with locally sourced Challenger hops from in Kent freshly harvested and straight in the kettle… they’re bringing spice, cedar and tart green apple and pear. It’s controlled and balanced… true session beer… our homage to a classic beer style and the green hop harvest tradition.

Available on tap right now at our .taproom and .heist and in casks and kegs for your bar!

We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Black Lager… yes… Black Lager…

If you’re not familiar with this style then get familiar with this classic Franconian lager…

A traditional lager recipe with Vienna and Lager malt with additions of roasted barley and black malt for rich cocoa and coffee notes and the dark colour…

We’ve used Cascade and Harlequin in this brew for spice, candied orange and floral citrus notes. If you like a Helles give it a whirl, if you like a stout here’s your chance to be a lager drinker…

Available in cask and in keg at our .taproom and .heist… with bottles landing very soon on our taproom and tapdoor…

Prost!

Cask season is here, the rain and colder weather is creeping in… the post beer buying call of ‘shall we sit outside’ is shifting from a token inquiry (does a bear crap in the woods) to a genuine question… the appeal of a nice beer garden is slowly super ceded by the warmth of a fire… and this is where our Black Lager comes in… Welcome to our Schwarzbier - 5%.

Our Schwarz is part of a series we’re exploring that we’ve dubbed Sussex Fassbier… Casked beer from Sussex with a nod to our favourite European styles… We’ve gone for a big and punchy malt profile with bitter chocolate and rich roasted coffee notes balanced with Cascade and Harlequin bringing those classic citrus, orange rind green fruit notes with a tea-like herbal spice. Medium high bitterness with a dry finish in keeping with classic lager sessionability. This beer eases you in to stout and porter season for sure… it feels autumnal and as a September child it feels very comforting…

Coming to hand pull near you very soon...
