Afternoon,

From Thursday I’ll be in the West Midlands for a few days, with Friday taking me out to Bewdley — a picturesque riverside town on the River Severn, well known for its Georgian buildings and as the northern terminus of the Severn Valley Railway — and then on to Kidderminster, historically famous for its carpet industry and now a lively town with a strong brewing and pub scene. I’ll be visiting a number of Micropubs, Pubs and Breweries over the day, so if I am down to visit you I would really appreciate a share of this post.

The Great Western Bewdley Recognised for Good Beer Guide Achievement!

Recently, Wyre Forest CAMRA presented a certificate to Gary & Jennie Mills, licensees of the GREAT WESTERN in Bewdley, marking their considerable achievement of TEN UNBROKEN YEARS in the GOOD BEER GUIDE.

Only 3 Wyre Forest pubs have been continuously in the GBG for longer.

On the night of the presentation, the Great Western was packed with customers enjoying a range of six excellent cask beers from Bewdley Brewery (with which Jennie has a family connection) as well as Enville, Holden & Wye Valley breweries.

First published in 1974, the Good Beer Guide is the definitive guide to the nation’s best pubs serving cask beer. GBG entries cannot be bought; qualification is based on serving cask beer of consistently excellent quality, as judged by tens of thousands of CAMRA volunteers nationwide throughout the year.

Rob Budworth, Chairman of Wyre Forest CAMRA, said: “Only 10% of our pubs can get into the Good Beer Guide in any one year, so doing it for ten years in a row is a mark of the excellence and consistency of the cask ales on offer at the Great Western.”

🎈🎉 10 years ago today we first opened the doors of the newly refurbished Great Western!! 🥳🥳 What a fantastic 10 years it's been!
A massive thank you to all our amazing customers that help make the pub what it is.
Thanks also to Bewdley Brewery for supplying the best beer and of course a BIG thank you to our utterly brilliant staff 😀

We have a limited number of GBG's available to members only for £12 if they attend the launch event at The Chester Tavern this Thursday evening (7pm, 26th Sept).
