A wide selection of drinks, from Real Ale's to Jågerbombs to local Ciders. The Barrels Ale House is the best venue for a night out in Berwick-upon-Tweed. We have 5 Real Ales on tap at any one time, we normally have Pentland IPA, and 4 other guest beers for you to try at your pleasure. We also stock Budweiser Budvar, Früli, Bacchus, Druuel and of course Newcastle Brown Ale bottles. There is a Whisk

y shelf that is higher quality than anyone else in the area with 17 different bottles from The Macallan to Bushmills, Laphroaig, Chivas Regal and Jura. As well as all these great tasting Ales, Whiskys and continental bottled beers, we stock a great selection of Rums, Gins, Tequilas and more exotic alcohols such as Midori, Żubrówka (Bison Grass) and Kahlúa for the more adventurous drinker. The basement is open Friday and Saturday nights (and some sunday nights if there's a live band on) and serves a great selection of cocktails made on request by our resident mixologists.

August's Sound & Vision film night screening will be Sofia Coppola's 'Lost In Translation', at 7pm on Sunday 7th August, at the Barrels Alehouse. Free entry, but please book a seat by emailing [email protected].

It stars Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson as Bob and Charlotte, two Americans who find themselves in the same hotel in Tokyo, for different reasons (he's a past-his-prime movie star there to record a TV advert for whiskey, she's a philosophy graduate accompanying her photographer husband). They're both feeling adrift in their lives, thinking 'is this it?', while time differences and jet lag only exaggerate the surreal atmosphere and their sense of alienation. Unable to sleep, they find common ground in being 'strangers in a strange land', decide to make the best of it, and immerse themselves in Tokyo's unfamiliar nightlife. A very funny movie, while also being a great depiction of unexpected friendship and mutual support between two very different people.
