It's a wrap!

Thank you all to those that have supported us over the past 7 years. It's been one heck of a rollercoaster and we've sank so many beers together. Without you we wouldn't have made it this far, nor would we have introduced such a broad range of craft beer to Belper.

The hardest part was handing the keys in yesterday. Suddenly hit me that it was no more, but I can take the experience and memories with me. We've been blessed to have had this opportunity and make it work for over 7 years.

It hasn't been an easy decision hanging our hat, but we both know it's the right one. We got to the stage where trade was down, overheads were increasing, our flexibility meant it was harder to fit the shop in and other commitments in our lives are happening, exciting ones (like baby on the way for me, Stephen😁) It wouldn't be fair to carry something on if we're both not fully available. The shop needed more and it's not something we could give unfortunately.

Please continue to support belper independents as best you can. It's a gorgeous town and businesses need you more than ever. Every little bit makes a big difference to small owners. It doesn't have to be spending money, you can share their posts to family and friends. We all feel the pinch with everyday living but any way you can help means a tremendous amount to the businesses of Belper.

You'll see us both about, drinking at our faves just to name a few. It'll be lovely to see our regulars and we can reminisce and raise a toast to The Beer Trap.

THE BEER TRAP 2018-2025

It is with a heavy heart that we are announcing our closure this summer. It has been a difficult decision for us, but we felt it was the right time. We have some huge life changes coming this year, and The Trap just does not fit in anymore.

When I think back over the past 7 years, I struggle to comprehend the amount of experiences this project has brought us. From taster events, summer festivals and amazing European beer trips, we have had an absolute blast bringing craft beer to Belper.

The highs are only part of running this business, there have been lows too. Bereavements and Covid being stand outs, but what has pulled us through has been our brilliant customers and trade friends. We have made some lifelong friends in our regulars, and your continued support means the world to us. You know who you are.

Many of you know that this has been a passion project for us. We both have careers outside of the shop. Our customers have remained steadfast, but the cost of running a small business has doubled for us over the last 7 years. I do not envy people that rely financially on their shops. What I'm saying is, energy companies/government/big business are killing the High Street. If you value Belper as it is, please support it as much as you can.

Our closing day is Saturday 7th June, we'll be having a big all day party. Come celebrate with us over the next month. Anyone with gift vouchers please come in ASAP, we won't be around after this date!

From the bottom of our hearts we would like to say thank you to anyone that spent their time and money in our little beer shop. I'm sure we will see you all around the pubs of Belper.
