Dine with us, we’re open seven days a week from brunch until evening or peruse our extensive list of tipples including our expertly mixed “Cathedral Quarter Cocktails”. The Northern Whig offers a huge selection of premium wines, spirits and beers while our carefully prepared cocktail list reflects the enthusiasm for mixing drinks which all our bartenders share. All our cocktails are made with premium spirits and you will find all the classics on there as well as some of our own award winning creations. If you can’t decide on what tipple to tackle first the team at The Northern Whig will be only too happy to help you choose the right drink for you. Mid week at The Northern Whig the ambience is relaxed with chilled out lounge grooves, making it the perfect destination for an after work wind down or post shopping refreshment. At the weekends the vibe is more lively with cool soul on Fridays to ease you into the weekend and urban funk on Saturday nights, when the socialites gather to enjoy the cocktails and atmosphere that The Northern Whig are famous for. If you have a private party the Mezzanine area of The Northern Whig is available for private hire. We are incredibly heartbroken to share the passing of our much-loved friend and colleague, Blake.

Since joining us, he became a true part of the furniture - always there, always willing to help, and someone who would do anything for anyone. He was known for his cheeky, mischievous nature, bringing smiles and laughter to those around him every day.

His kindness, humour, and spirit made a lasting impact on all of us.

We all love him so much. He will be missed terribly by his friends at the Whig, as well as by all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.

Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with his family and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.

Rest in peace, Blake 🧡

“We had an absolutely fantastic time making cocktails this afternoon. We were hosted by Blake at the bar upstairs who was just amazing. He talked us through and explained everything. He was so knowledgeable about his craft. We had such a laugh and made delicious cocktails and then went on to have a lovely dinner. The food was great and nothing was a bother to the staff. There was a singer on for some of our time there but it didn't feel too loud and the songs were great. I feel like £50 was a bargain for what all we got and I wouldn't hesitate to go back for it again. I would highly recommend.”
