*METAL LEGENDS ANVIL ARE COMING TO ESQUIRES*

Anvil+ Killer – Thurs 5th November, Bedford Esquires.

Following the ‘Hard Rock Hell’ festival cancellation, we have convinced Canadian heavy-metal veterans ANVIL to point the tour bus in the direction of Bedford Esquires for their first ever visit to the venue on Thurs 5th November.

The Canadian heavy-metal band Anvil delivered a highly influential 1982 album that would inspire the likes of Anthrax and Metallica and then dropped off the map to begin what would become decades of toiling in obscurity. The critically acclaimed 2009 documentary ‘The Story of Anvil’ opened the band up to a brand new audience worldwide when director and former roadie Sacha Gervasi followed guitarist Steve "Lips" Kudlow and drummer Robb Reiner as they stumble through a harrowing European tour and reflect on failure, friendship, resilience and the will to follow even the most impossible of dreams.

For the AW26 'Pounding the Past' Tour the band will be performing their classic first 3 albums METAL ON METAL | HARD ‘N’ HEAVY | FORGED IN FIRE, plus very special guests KILLER.

A little reminder that John Verity makes a welcome return to the venue this evening, where he headlines Room 2! Still tickets remaining for this one, on the door from 7.30pm.

John Verity is one of the most consistent performers on the blues rock circuit today, having honed his craft over more
than 60 years on the circuit at every level.

Born in West Yorkshire but based in Bedford, he played in many bands in the area and beyond before moving to Florida. Whilst there he opened for Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Mountain and others, then on his return to the UK, taking a somewhat different direction with time as front man with Argent.

My Life Story are one of the most distinctive bands to emerge from the Britpop era, blending infectious pop melodies with the grandeur of a full orchestral sound. Formed in London and led by songwriter and vocalist Jake Shillingford, the band became known for their lavish arrangements featuring strings and brass, setting them apart from many of their contemporaries. During the 1990s they enjoyed chart success with singles such as “12 Reasons Why I Love Her”, “Sparkle” and “The King of Kissingdom”, while earning a reputation for a putting a right proper stompingly good show on.

Vona Vella blend jangly indie-pop with rich vocal harmonies, creating a sound that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly modern. Drawing influence from artists such as The Coral, Belle & Sebastian, Everything But The Girl and The Strokes, the Nottingham five-piece balance melodic guitar lines, warm dual vocals and subtle folk-pop textures with an understated indie-rock energy. You could describe the sound they make as breezy bittersweet nuggets. Pete Doherty loves them but what does he know.
