UK hospitality is taxed at 20% VAT; one of the highest rates in Europe.

Compare that with around 10% in Italy, France and Spain, 7% on restaurant food in Germany, and 9% in Ireland from July 2026.

The result? British hospitality is at a competitive disadvantage.

A fairer VAT rate would help restaurants invest, create jobs, support suppliers, and keep our high streets thriving.

We need the industry to come together and make some noise.
