Day 3 of Small Business Week and the turn of Eclipse Books in The Courtyard.

“Eclipse Books was born from a love of stories and a desire to share those tales with others. Alex and Georgia are the husband-and-wife duo behind the counter (with occasional assistance from shop dog Archie). Despite only having started in February they hope to have already helped people find new stories that will stay with them for a lifetime.

They were drawn to set up Eclipse Books in Bawtry because of the strength of the already existing Independent high street and community spirit supporting it. They would like to thank everyone who has popped in, even if it was just for a browse, and for all the lovely compliments! In the coming months we are adding to our range of genres and products so be sure to follow us on Facebook for updates.

Following on from Independent Business Week it is Independent Bookshop Week between the 13th to 20th. To say thank for the warm welcome to Bawtry, Eclipse Books is giving away a £5 National Book Token to the first 100 customers that week. Additionally, they will be holding a raffle for a prize of classic books or Eclipse Book Vouchers! So pop in and start a new story today!

Little known fact; Alex and Georgia first met at university in Preston all the way back in 2013. Alex was doing a Forensic Science degree but prefers Sci-Fi/Fantasy to Crime. Georgia was doing an English Language degree but prefers Crime to Sci-Fi/Fantasy. So, if you want a recommendation you now know who to ask!

“Since opening our doors in June 2013, Bawtry Eye Academy has been proud to be part of the wonderful Bawtry community. We believe eye care should be personal, professional, and a little different, which is why we always strive to offer something unique for our patients.
Over the years, we've loved building relationships with local families and working alongside other fantastic businesses in the area. Supporting our community isn't just important to us – it's at the heart of everything we do.

I’ve been in the beauty industry for 14 years and I absolutely love what I do, helping my amazing clients look and feel like the very best version of themselves.

My clinic is located adjoining a beautiful Grade II listed building (Saddlers House) and offers a private, calm setting. It’s strictly by appointment only, so every client receives the time, care and attention they deserve. We also have a small carpark right outside the door.

Next in our meet the people series is a dynamic duo, Roxanna and Saoirse of lietclinic

“Roxana opened Liet Clinic in 2023 following her own experience of living with autoimmune disease. Her passion is helping people with chronic and autoimmune conditions improve their quality of life through acupuncture and an integrative approach to health. Alongside acupuncture, she has studied Functional Medicine and completed two years of Master's-level study in Functional Nutrition.

Saoirse joined the clinic in 2025 after first meeting Roxana while studying for their degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture. She has a particular interest in women's health and fertility.

A little-known fact about us is that our friendship grew from a shared love of the outdoors. When we're not in clinic, you'll often find us hiking, paddleboarding or exploring new places.

What we love most about Bawtry is its strong sense of community. We feel privileged to be part of such a welcoming and supportive town.

I love the location and all the amazing new people I have met and been able to help and treat in Bawtry. My location offers free parking and a peaceful spot to focus on your wellbeing.

I love helping people both in my work and outside. I frequently travel overseas for humanitarian work and have gone to work with Yazidi refugees in Iraq on 9 trips over the years”!

To celebrate Small Business Week we are going to feature some of the faces behind the businesses in Bawtry. First up is one of our newest additions, Emily of Barge Estates.

“We’ve been running Barge Estates for around 3 and a half years and have recently opened our beautiful new shop in Bawtry. We chose Bawtry because of its incredible community spirit, its reputation as a highly sought-after place to live and visit, and the fact that there is always something happening. We wanted to be part of such a vibrant and welcoming town, and we’re delighted to now have a presence here. We’re proud to be part of the Bawtry business community and look forward to meeting even more local residents and visitors through our new shop.

Outside of work, I love exploring local pubs in search of the perfect Sunday lunch. Whenever possible, our beautiful dog, Blue, comes along too and enjoys the adventures just as much as we do!”
