The Five Bells is a charming, owner-managed, traditional British pub-restaurant situated in the heart of the quaint and picturesque village of Bassingham. High quality, fresh, homemade food is served daily with regular menu updates which vary with the seasons and availability of local produce. A wide range of A La Carte and Specials dishes are available over both lunchtime and the evening (with ba
r snacks also on offer during the day). The Five Bells is well known for serving a wonderful Sunday Roast, and although we generally recommend booking a table in advance, it is highly advisable to do so on a Sunday. The comfort of our customers is always at the forefront of our minds, so fires are lit daily in the winter and air-conditioning is in operation over the summer months. Children and dogs are more than welcome to dine out with the family in the cosy, ‘old bar’ lounge. Parts of the building date back to the 1800’s, and the owners have maintained the warm, traditional feel of the pub with fresh hops adorning the oak ceiling beams, a range of interesting antiques and furniture, and maintaining the original, active well at the centre of the pub (we cannot, unfortunately, guarantee that your wish should come true if you were to throw a penny down the well, but you are welcome to try). The village of Bassingham is within a short driving distance of the City of Lincoln and the town of Newark. Should you wish to make your visit with us a day out, there is a children’s park and play area within 2 or 3 minutes walking distance of the pub, and a public footpath which leads to Carlton Le Moorland, as well as the Bassingham fen, both of which are ideal for dog walking and cycle rides.
