Some moody and atmospheric ( or something) photos from the latest bash at First Friday. The North Coast Joymakers gave their usual extremely skilful and only slightly chaotic performance. Not quite knowing what they were going to do next certainly adds to the fun. Nice to see so many new, and young, faces in the audience as well.

The warm glow of the lighting doesn’t show well in my iPad photos, hence the moody mono pics. I quite like the way the sousaphone appears to be about to eat our revered saxophonist. Maybe next time.

We shall be open for jazz fun again on the first Friday in November. Then a break until February when our winter/spring season will last until 4 th July when the BD Lenz trio from New York pay us their annual visit.

Unfortunately, my iPad video/ sound doesn’t do justice to the B.D.Lenz trio. A brilliant band, playing jazz,jazz funk, original and pop. They came from NewYork to the UK at the beginning of their annual European tour. We are so lucky to get musicians of this standard playing for us in North Devon at the First Friday Jazz club.

Another excellent night of music from saxophonist Neil Maya. This time it was the music of Charlie Parker, interspersed with an outline of that ground-breaking jazz musician's life.

We are very lucky to get musicians of this calibre in our area.
Philip Clouts on piano, John Donnelly on bass and Gary Evans on drums gave us an evening of inspired solos and perfect ensemble playing.
