Dear Members and Customers,
I started The Real Ale Farm six years ago with an ambition to rescue a failing Royal Air Force Association Club for the benefit of the members and welcome new members through the introduction of well-kept real ale. For the greatest part we have been successful, and the journey has been amazing, however, over the past six months I have come to realise that we are no longer succeeding. This is largely due to a decrease in custom and an increase in costs, but the major factor in our ongoing financial difficulty has been impossible demands set by our landlords at RAFA Headquarters. Constant demands for costly renovations along with refusal to assist in any manner have taken their toll on the business and the finances.
With this in mind, I have come to the heart-breaking decision to close The Real Ale Farm. Our last day of trading will be Sunday 12th May 2019. Our remaining time trading will be focusing on our final real ale festival over May Day Bank Holiday weekend.
As you can imagine, this is an unpleasant time for all involved and I would appreciate my staff being given the respect they deserve as we bring this business to a close.
As the premises will be under the control of RAFA Headquarters, all personal belongings must be removed before our last trading day. I do not yet know the intentions of RAFA Headquarters for the future of the building following our closure.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your custom and commitment to The Real Ale Farm over the years. Without your support we simply would not have won so many awards or succeeded for as long as we did.
Sincerely
Robert Powell
Club Manager
