Autumnal Beauties 🍂

How gorgeous are these beautiful organic Crown Prince squash and Oyster Mushrooms from the brilliant Organic North (thanks guys, you’ve smashed it again!) 🙌🏼 Delivery day is always such a joy for us, wonderful ingredients always make us smile: it’s the simple pleasures!

The Crown Prince Squash is the star of our seasonal salad, alongside fresh and slightly bitter Radicchio leaves, creamy Gorgonzola cheese and crunchy toasted walnuts.

You’ll find the Oyster Mushrooms in our lovingly hand crafted Gnocchi (a favourite of Giulia’s to make): soft little potato clouds that melt in the mouth, with a luxurious mushroom sauce.

Did you catch this beautiful sunset in the Peaks last weekend? How lucky are we living in such an amazing village! We’re often telling our guests how grateful we feel here: great food, great atmosphere, great people. What more could we ask for?

We’ve stocked up on icecream from how does a lemon sorbet with a shot of limoncello drizzled on top sound? We can confirm it’s delightful!

Our Limoncello Spritz and Confit Fennel and Sausage Strozzapreti pasta have been particular hits with you all (But who can resist a plate of mushroom arancini or tiramisu..). Come and get your fix this Friday and Saturday from 5.45pm.

The kind of before and after we like 🔥

It smells mighty fine in the kitchen today, courtesy of our freshly baked Parmigiana, with layers of melt-in the mouth aubergines from the fabulous Organic North a slow cooked tomato sauce, mozzarella and delicious High Weald Dairy Ricotta Salata. What a treat…

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Autumn here in our beautiful Peak District village 🍂

We are celebrating the changing season with a spotlight on these beautifully imperfect and sensationally tasty vegetables from our friends Organic North

➡️ Jerusalem artichokes (or ‘topinambur’ in Italian) feature in our vegetarian pasta dish, with a creamy purée and delicious crispy bits on top

➡️ The fennel is served confit in a beautiful and satisfying fennel and Italian sausage strozzapreti pasta

Our guests this weekend have been loving the new additions to the menu, alongside our featherblade of beef Spezzatino stew -luxurious and comforting on these chilly nights.

Thank you to all our guests, friends and customers for an epic summer together, we’re looking forward to cosy nights this Autumn and Winter here at La Fontana with you!

Our bistro is a very cosy place to be on these chilly end of summer evenings. If you don’t fancy a full meal, do stop by for a drink and a small plate or two to share with a friend in our comfy lounge chairs overlooking the beautiful Fountain Square.

We love our veggies here at La Fontana!

From sourcing the best quality we can (and organic where available) to celebrating seasonal delights, you will always find vegetarian options front and centre in our bistro menu.

Our guest favourites include:
🍄‍🟫 Mushroom arancini covered in lashings of Parmesan and garnished with fried sage leaves (totally edible and very delicious)

🫛Broad bean bruschetta, made with our beautiful signature sourdough and topped with creamy burrata

🍅 Isle of Wight tomato salad, dressed with a sweet and punchy balsamic and olive oil dressing (you will want some focaccia to soak up all that lovely sauce!)

We always have a vegetarian pasta main, this week a luxurious Orecchiette alla Norma with a slow cooked tomato sauce, glistening aubergines and crumbled aged ricotta on top.

We can also cater for vegan & dairy-free and gluten-free guests, but as a small team & kitchen with a curated menu it is always best to give us a heads up via DM or email when booking to let us know any requirements. Our chef Giulia always has a trick or two up her sleeve ready to delight our guests.

Planning a group getaway in the Peaks? Here it’s all under one roof!

We have many groups of friends & family that choose to stay in our lovely hostel, bistro and bakery for a weekend break, annual meet-ups or special celebrations, and we do love hosting them!

With stunning Peak District views and walks, quality food made with love and a welcoming community setting, we really do have it all.

Thanks to this lovely bunch for all their support, it was great having you and we’re looking forward to seeing you next year!

Made from scratch, with love ❤️

These beautiful organic tomatoes from the super team at Organic North Wholesalers form the basis of our Orecchiette alla Norma.

This traditional Sicilian pasta dish is served with a slow cooked tomato and basil sauce, fried aubergines (also organic) and served with a luxurious aged ricotta from High Weald Dairy crumbled on top (which happens to be organic too!).

Simple but quality ingredients, cooked with love by Giulia.
