WE’RE GOING BEHIND BARS!

On Friday 9th October, a few brave (or possibly slightly crazy! 😂) members of staff and customers from The Ploughman’s Bar will be spending the night behind bars at one of the most haunted jails in the UK!

And we’re not doing it just for the ghosts… 👀

We’re taking on the challenge to raise money for breast cancer.

We’d absolutely LOVE your help to make our night in the cells worthwhile!

Whether you can spare £1, £5, £10 or whatever you can manage, every single donation will help us reach our target and support someone who really needs it.

So please dig deep, sponsor us and help us raise as much as we possibly can!

It’s that time of year again,tomorrow Chippy will be lovingly taking over the kitchen to create his famous beef stew masterpiece.

And before anyone asks this is NOT some dishwater, see through excuse for a stew!

We’re talking proper chunky beef, slow cooked to perfection in our draught Doom Bar, creating a thick, rich, slightly boozy, beefy broth that’ll warm you right through.

Amanda’s job? Well, apparently I’m not qualified for the important stuff.

My three official duties are:
Turn the slow cookers on
Make the dumplings
Serve it

Fundraising in The Ploughman’s over the next few weeks starts with a meat raffle tomorrow night including breakfast packs and free pizza.

Bridie’s Story

At just 32 years old, Bridie’s life has been turned upside down after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer in July 2026.

Bridie and her partner Jon had moved from the UK to Australia to build their life together and follow a dream they had shared. Now, while thousands of miles from family and friends, Bridie faces six months of intense chemotherapy, followed by surgery, radiotherapy and further treatment.

This is where we’d like to help.

Bridie is a close friend of one of our customers and friends, and over the next few weeks The Ploughman’s Bar will be raising money to support Bridie and Jon through what is going to be an incredibly difficult journey.

Every donation, fundraiser, share or bit of support can make a difference and help take away just a little of the financial pressure, allowing them to concentrate on what really matters getting Bridie through her treatment.

Please keep an eye out for our fundraising events over the coming weeks. Let’s see what we can do to show Bridie and Jon that they have lots of people behind them.

Some of you thought we were only having a kids’ end of season party, well, of course that’s not the case!

We’ve got everything sorted for the BIG End of Season Party at The Ploughman’s Bar!
