We are a friendly, fresh food pub & restaurant with open fires in the winter & gardens for the summer
Real Food, Real Ale & Real Charm Welcome to the Thatched Tavern

This beautiful 400 year old beamed tavern, with its cosy bar and glowing fires serves traditional heart warming bar food such as; Cumberland sausages, creamy mash & gravy ; and Thatched ox cheek & winter vegetable pudding. Good ‘old fashioned’ indulgence is the order of the day in the restaurant, where you’ll find classic English fayre and daily fresh fish specials on the a la carte menu.

“The Thatch”, as it is endearingly known is steeped in local history. Even in the 1700 ‘s it was a well known landmark – and it is said that Queen Victoria’s Royal Carriage was sometimes seen outside, while John Brown was fortifying himself inside before his onward journey to Windsor Castle!

As we step into a brand new year, we just want to say thank you 🙏

To every one of you who’s walked through our doors, shared a meal, raised a glass by the fire, laughed in the garden, or supported us in any way. We are truly grateful. Your loyalty, kindness and continued support mean more to us than we can ever put into words.

Our pub is nothing without its people and we’re so proud to be part of such a wonderful community.

We wish you and your loved ones a very Happy New Year, filled with good health, happiness and plenty of reasons to celebrate. We can’t wait to welcome you back soon and make even more memories together in the year ahead.

You’ll spot the benchmark just to the right of the front door as you come in, and the plaque sits proudly on the beam above you as you step into the bar 🙌
