Some exciting news: Before Covid I asked Colin Steele to write a new jazz suite to celebrate 30 years of Jazz at Hospitalfield. The pandemic meant that it was never performed. As it has not been possible to re-commence the concerts at Hospitalfield I am delighted to say that the Arbroath Suite will be premiered at the Edinburgh Jazz Festival. The Colin Steele Quintet will include it in a concert of new contemporary Scottish jazz at the George Square Spiegeltent on Saturday 23rd July at 7.00pm.

This weekend sees the 30th anniversary of Jazz at Hospitalfield.Unfortunatley the corona virus has meant that all this year's celebratory concerts have had to be cancelled. But I cannot let this milestone pass without saying a big thank you to: The Musicians-thanks to all the musicians -spanning three generations and from all over the world - who have given us such memorable concerts. The Audience - thanks too to the Hospitalfield audience which has supported the venue in such numbers that the vast majority of concerts have sold out. And for their trust in me as far as porgramming has been concerned. The Team - many thanks to Isobel, Maureen and George for their invaluable services and especially to Helen for her unwavering support throughtout good times and bad. I cannot say what the future of Jazz at Hospitalfield will be but what I can say is that running it over three decades has been a real privilege and pleasure. Thank you.
