Amble cocktail bar closes as owners focus on growing drinks brand

Well last night we closed the last chapter on the hospitality side of Hummingbird to focus on growing the drinks brand side of the business…. And what a night it was! A record breaking night on cocktails made and customers served. From the moment we opened at 5pm till the moment we closed, it was non stop cocktail making!

We can’t thank everyone enough for the support and especially the turnout last night. From old faces to new faces, from old cocktails to new cocktails, it reminded us why we started the business in the first place!

The permanent hospitality side of the business may have came to an end but you can still expect to see us at events and pops ups across the region (and nationally). We’ve got a full calendar leading into Christmas for events and markets but come new year, we will be looking at doing some more cocktail pop ups, so keep an eye on things!

This photo perfectly sums up the end of the night! Absolutely knackered, with a b**r in hand 3 hours after we closed! Here’s to more cocktails, more retail and on trade accounts, more collaborations with businesses and we’ve got something new coming next year!

Well the weekend is just about here!

It still very odd for a company that started out as a hospitality business, to be saying goodbye to the hospitality element (in a manor of speaking).

With the focus now fully on production of Hummingbird Drinks, Grounded and maybe something new, it was time to say goodbye to the bar and shop! But as we’ve said previously, this is just the new chapter starting, the evolution! A new playing hand! We’ve always been a bunch of jokers at Hummingbird so we want to end the bar on a good laugh!

Open Friday like usual but Saturday we will be open 5-10pm with the amazing Copper Ricebox attending to keep you all full up on bait and we’ll be bring back some classics from over the last 4 years! We’ve got some seating sorted in the production end (and a makeshift bar) so we’ve double our seating capacity for the weekend and as always, we’ve got our little bit of seating outside too.

Our “find us” page on our website is now live so you can see exactly where we will be selling and popping up! It’s a live page so keep an eye on it for updates each month. We’ve got some exciting cocktail pop ups planned so Amble definitely isn’t seeing the last of us!

Vodka Espressos on a cool summer’s night!

As the summer starts to come to a close, the perfect way to enjoy the nights cutting in, friends and espresso martinis! Some people as why our bottled espresso martini is not called an Espresso Martini instead of a Vodka Espresso…..

A little cocktail geeky fact is that the original espresso martini was called the Vodka Espresso and it was actually served over ice! As all our bottled cocktails can be served over ice, we thought it would be a nice nod to the original! It wasn’t called an espresso martini until the mid 90’s when the “tini” craze came into full swing!

Our Vodka Espresso contains no artificial foamers, it naturally creates a foam itself as we use high quality cold brew and Grounded liqueur!

We thought with our closing day approaching, we would do one last w**e night! The date, Thursday 17th of September. The time, 7pm. The price, £35pp

This one’s going to be a little different. Chris & Becca will walk you through 4 w**es on the night with the final drink being a w**e based cocktail made by Chris, exclusively for the event! We will also be pairing each w**e with some cheese and nibbles for a nice laid back night.

Like previous w**e nights, we will have limited numbers so once we’re fully booked we’re fully booked! Just give us a message or email us at [email protected] to book your space/spaces.

We’re looking forward to this one! So make sure you get in early!

Update on opening hours for September:

A little bit of a mistake with this weeks opening hours. We are actually open till 9(ish) on Saturday 5th.

Keep an eye out over the next week for an update on our closing night events! And there is still some tickets available for our “One Last W**e” event.

You can find the full range of cocktails at our shop in amble, online and at retailers across the uk. If you’re thinking of grabbing something over the bank holiday weekend. We will have the shop & bar open on Friday from 3-9pm then we will be at forage lifestyle Summer Market on Saturday and Sunday at Rigg & Furrow.

Hummingbird Amble Update: Please Read.

It’s crazy to think we started chapter 3 two years ago and it’s more crazy to think that we’ve been open in the new site for 20 months and we’ve changed the cocktail menu over 100 times (much to the dismay of Becca).

But as the business grows, we’ve had to make the decision to close Hummingbird Amble from the end of September. With Grounded moving production sites and the business focusing more on being a drinks brand than a hospitality brand, we had to make a tough decision but it’s the right one.

There’s nothing negative going on, just with Hummingbird Drinks now growing into a national brand, our time needs to be focused on that side of the business! But this isn’t the last time you will see us!! Due to us not being tied to the bar, expect more pop ups, events and takeovers. Both in Amble and further afield! So you’re not getting rid of us…. Not even slightly!

Get the 26th of September in your diary for our closing party! Music, more seats, food from Copper Rice Box and some cocktails from the past, present and future!
