Good morning Altofts and you fantastic customers on this wet and wonderful day, I don’t like doing speeches or talking infront of people, but I would like to thank everyone that has walk through the doors of the poplar inn to have a pint and a chat with myself.

It’s been a hard year for myself pub wise and personal, as some my know but long and short of I have had to deal with suicidal depression, separation, mental health and a lot more, oh and learning how to run a pub, but what has kept me going is this pub and you my wonderful customers and my excellent regulars and they know who they are so thankyou you really don’t know what you have done for me and I hope that I have shown you the thanks that you deserve.

Well I would also like to thank the following people who without there support and help I couldn’t have got this far:-

Tracy Wolford you have been by far an absolute diamond stepping in when I have needed you the most, so thankyou

Dannica my daughter for the wonderful food last night and all your support

Elise my daughter for coming and having a good night looking after my mum and Jenny

And a special thanks to my wonderful mum for being my mum your love and support keeps me going so thankyou ###

Also Claire who behind the scenes supported me massively with my posts and with my mental health and recovery to which i can not thank enough words can not express what this lady has done for me, so thankyou so much.

Sorry for going on but i just needed you all to know how much this pub and you mean to me, it’s not just a building, it’s a place where people come to belong and be part of a community oh and to have a cheeky drink so may I hopefully do my job and serve you many more drinks in the future.

So ladies & gents it’s been a year of manning the pumps at the Poplar inn for me and what a time it has been, so to celebrate we have the following happening on Saturday.

4pm till 6pm we have DJ Murf with all your favourite hits

6:30pm a bit of food in the form of chicken curry and chips, once it’s gone it’s gone.

8pm onwards Kerrie Leonard is back to sing all your favourites.
