Well that’s an unusual insect that visited us yesterday a blooming hummingbird hawk moth, what a beast he was………

Today it’s beautiful and the garden will be full later so don’t hang around call Andrew on 858939 to reserve a table.

The spritz cocktails are flying out in this warm weather I think Aperol is just ahead of limoncello with Hugo 3rd and Campari bringing up the rear.

You know it’s going to be a hot day when at 8am it’s 31 degrees in your living room 🙈😂🙈 blooming eck it’s warm today even I’m feeling it a little today and that’s a rarity🥶🥶🥶.

Today’s specials are banging if I say so myself first up herb-crusted Haddock with lemon & caper drizzle, new potatoes and green beans £17.00 secondly it’s buttermilk fried chicken burger with curry mayo, chips and slaw £16.50.

Christmas bookings are flying in (took two yesterday) and we haven’t even done the menu but we have best part of 200 booked in mostly on the decking😂🥰😂.

The weather is set fair so for the table that asked to go outside if the weather is nice you get your wish meaning we now have tables available inside and outside at all times except 12-30 & 2pm, we cook until 4pm today. The roasts to day are Beef, lamb and chicken all priced at £16.50 we also do all the old favourites like steak pie, chicken jalfrezi, haddock and lasagne.

Don’t forget it Sunday quiz night with Andrew acting as if he’s in charge starts at 8.30pm and I suspect he’ll have a rant at some point.

After much deliberation Andrew has decided not to make Rhys work until 3 am, so no football tonight sorry😂🙈😂.

Lastly dropping barrels off a dray is an art well done, but not on Friday 🙈😂🙈 luckily Abergavenny Garden Centre had more left so here I go painting again.

Well it’s a beautiful day here in sunny Abergavenny, I have my first trumpet out on my agapanthus the bees 🐝 have been expecting it already don’t you just love nature. I’m expecting a busy day here at the Grofield so be sure to book a table to be guaranteed to table.

The specials today are homemade Quiche’s - we have Lorraine and Salmon & Broccoli both served with chips and salad £14 next up 10-12oz gammon steak with 2 free range fried eggs, chips and peas £16.75.

I’m thinking I’ve gone mad, here we are it’s the hottest time of the year and I’m growing a beard 😂🙈😂.

Well we don’t normally show the football but being a straight knock out match the TV’s are on, With sound. Food is being served 5til 8pm and the specials are 10/12oz gammon steak served with chips, peas and two free range fried eggs £16.75 next it’s a warm soy-glazed Salmon salad with sesame £17 and lastly homemade Broccoli & Stilton quiche with chips and salad £14.

How the garden has changed in 10 years, the wisteria used to be in 4 pots doing absolutely nothing Les Llewellyn and I dug 4 tidy holes took half a day but what a result BOOM I have to trim it at least 4 times a year 😂😂😂 it just won’t stop growing.

I suspect a group of young ladies regret the last couple of Aperol spritz last night 🙈😂🙈 they are quite dangerous 🥳🎉🥳 and there maybe a thick head or two.

Anyway today we have a couple of tables available because it’s nice enough to sit in the garden so a few of my indoor tables have moved outside so we have a couple available both inside and outside.

Well cellar work seems to take hours in this heat and I’m happy down there at 12 degrees, only nuisance is apparently I have to be upstairs by 12noon…..

The near empty plate is a terrible job of tasting the lovely Quiches that Lewis has made for the special today Quiche Lorraine and a broccoli and Stilton both served hot or cold and with chips and salad £14, I know it’s hot but we are doing the midweek roast Beef with all the trimmings £14.50

The spritz thing is going mad we now do Aperol, Campari, limoncello & a Hugo I think for now that’s enough but hey ho you never know….😂😂

Well as you must probably know it’s quite warm today and hopefully it will be hot enough later on, the trick today is to take lots of hydration breaks like the footballer’s so 22.5 minutes work then boom a Aspall’s cyder in the Grofield beautiful beer garden then back to work for another 22.5 minutes work and boom another Aspall’s, obviously you can replace the Aspall’s with anything really like a nice refreshing beer shandy or wait a minute…… a lush limoncello spritzer with lashings of ice.
By full time you should be well and truly be in a better place than when you started 🤷‍♂️😂🤷‍♂️ and perhaps take the rest of the day off.

Today we are cooking 12-3pm with the bar staying open till late, specials are homemade Quiche Lorraine served with a full salad or 1/2 chips and salad £14 secondly we have beef madras served with Basmati rice and a poppadom £16 and lastly the stunning warm soy glazed Salmon salad with sesame £17. Well it’s Thursday and the midweek roast is back and it’s sold out. Andrew has been busy with new tables and chairs replacing the old ones that had seen better days, a bit like himself 😂🙈😂.

Father’s Day is nearly here and unfortunately we are very nearly full- we do have a few of tables for 2 left.
