What an absolutely fabulous Boxing Day at the Tafarn following our reintroduction of the "Cwm Shencyn Cup" football game at the Govilon football field. Our thanks to Llanfoist Community Council for the use of their facilities.
Next big night is New Year's Eve - all the tickets are now sold and it promises to be yet another exceptional evening. Please note that we will be closing for an hour or so at the end of Sunday lunch service in order for us to prepare for the evening. (We'll probably close sometime around 5.30pm until we reopen the doors at 7pm).
Hope you've all had a great Christmas and we wish you all a Happy and Prosperous new year!

Where to begin? Okay let's start by letting you know that this Sunday (10th December) we are exceptionally busy for Sunday lunches as we are hosting a large 70th birthday party for one of our esteemed regulars and we now have only a very few spaces left so booking ahead is absolutely essential!
On Friday 22nd December WE WILL BE OPEN FROM 1pm. Please note though, that in the evening we are once again extremely heavily booked, so if wishing to dine with us that evening it is vital to book.
Whilst we will be open for lunches as normal on Sunday (Christmas Eve), we will be operating our regular menu as we think that the vast majority of our regular Sunday diners will be enjoying a traditional roast the next day so it seemed to us to be the most appropriate thing to do! As posted earlier, on Christmas day we will be open for drinks only from 11.30am to 2pm.
Which brings us to Boxing Day! Prior to the pandemic one of our regulars revived the old Govilon tradition of a Boxing Day football game. It was a spectacular laugh but the following year, lockdown put paid to it. So this year we're once again trying to revive it - see attached poster for details. As regards the Tafarn, on Boxing Day we will be open from 1pm. Our kitchen will be open from 1 to 3pm and again from 6 to 9pm. To ensure we have the right staffing levels - PLEASE BOOK IN ADVANCE!
We have just a small number of tickets left for New Year's Eve. They can be purchased from the bar (£10) but numbers will be limited. Ticket price includes a hot and cold buffet as well as a heap of fun, games and prizes.
Lastly (for now), we will be open from 1pm on New Year's Day (Monday 1st January) - and once again food will be served 1 to 3pm and 6 to 9pm.

Hi All. Just a quick one to let you know that we have now installed a clothing bank in our car park where we will gratefully accept unwanted good quality clothing or shoes on behalf of 'Holibobs' children's cancer charity.

Also - a reminder that it's B I N G O on Thursday 16th November with the snowball prize now standing at £85! Eyes down 8pm.

Lastly, please note that just like last year, we will be closed on Monday and Tuesday evenings for the next few weeks which will give us an opportunity to use this quieter time of year to carry out important maintenance work.
