This week we had the shock news that the Blue Lamp, one of the UK’s best live music venues and home to Jazz at the Blue Lamp since 2012, is to close on 30th December.
This came out of the blue, with no warning and in circumstances completely outwith our control. We were due to resume our weekly Thursday night and monthly Sunday afternoon gigs in the new year but clearly that will not be possible now and we therefore have to cancel our January programme while we look for an alternative venue.

We are disappointed and saddened that the Blue Lamp is closing but we will do our very best to move on and continue to present top-quality live jazz for our loyal Aberdeen audience as well as continuing to support jazz education through our community band and youth combo.

We know this has not been an easy decision to make and our heartfelt thanks to Lewis Brown and his family for all their efforts to keep the Blue Lamp going, and of course, to the late and much missed Sandy Brown who made it the great venue and Aberdeen institution it is.

Not long til December's JOASA, and it's another double-barrelled cracker with: The Neil Birse Quartet featuring Neil (piano), Paul Greenwood (sax), Seth Bennett (bass)
and Richard Glassby (drums), closely followed by Macswing.

Who would've believed it - 100 JOASA gigs!
Join us on Sunday 5th October at The Blue Lamp as we celebrate this milestone with two great bands, Aberdeen City Music School Jazz Group, plus the fabulous M&M!

There will also be a raffle with a £100 prize, tickets £1 a strip.
