🌱The Plant Powered School Meals Coalition, of which we are an active member, is excited to announce that applications for our 2026 Plant Powered Youth Fellowship are open! Eligibility:
✅Must be between the ages of 14-22
✅Passionate about transforming school food.

Program Dates:
🗓️For college students: A 16-week program from May 1 - August 14, 2026.
🗓️For high school students: A full-year program from May 1, 2026 - May 1, 2027.

Fellowship Benefits:
👍$1,000 stipend (additional support and compensation for students completing the full-year program)
👍Mentorship, professional development & the opportunity to contribute to a growing movement for plant-based school food
👍A network of peers and like-minded individuals
👍All-expenses-paid advocacy trip to Washington, D.C.

The last day of the Eating City Summer Campus is always special ✨

After a week of learning, debating, sharing meals, and exchanging ideas, participants come together to write the Villarceaux Declaration 🌍

This declaration is their collective voice, a call to action shaped by diverse perspectives, united by one goal: building more sustainable, fair, and resilient food systems. This year’s declaration focuses on tackling food waste in public foodservice, but also goes further: calling for systemic change and a just transition that leaves no one behind.

A heartfelt thank you to all the participants, speakers and contributors who make the campus such a unique and inspiring experience year after year 💚

✨Our favorite time of the year has finally come✨

Yesterday we welcomed the 22 participants of the 11th edition of the Eating City Summer Campus 🧡

🥦 This year our focus is on one of the most pressing and avoidable failures of our food systems: food waste, especially in public foodservice such as school canteens, hospitals, and municipal catering.

➡️ Participants will explore strategies to reduce waste across the entire chain, while co-creating actionable ideas and policy messages for real impact. At the end of the week, they will write “the Villarceaux Declaration” a call to action for a coherent, inclusive, and just transition recognizing food waste reduction not only as an environmental priority, but also as a lever for systemic change and sustainable territorial development

🌍 This year’s program also launches the new EU-funded Foodwise Project and is framed by the European GreenPaths Project, which seeks to accelerate the just transition by aligning local food action with the broader EU policy framework.

Today the campus officially kicks off with the first lectures…but more on that on tomorrow’s post 👀
