Maison Calon Lan

As of 11.00am we are no longer the current owners of Maison Calon Lan. Philippe Nogue completed the purchase today and the lovely man he is, has allowed us to remain here until we move out on the 10/11th November. Our move is now subject to it being considered an “essential” journey, both for us and the removers! Hopefully Monsieurs Macron and Castex will see fit to release a special attestation, otherwise we will have to buy a caravan!
This page will disappear in the next couple of days, but keep an eye out for it re-emerging under new ownership and with a definite Gallic flavor! A bientôt a tous le monde!

In July 2012, we found what was to become our new home in Meneac, in a small village in central Brittany. As we weren’t very familiar with the beaches closest to our new home, we ventured up to the Côte d’Armor and found long sandy beaches and rugged headlands, and what was to become our favourite restaurant, the Table de Jean in Erquy. https://www.la-table-de-jeanne.fr/restaurant/
We’ve been back many times over the last 8 years, with family and friends, for celebrations and the annual ‘Staff Christmas Lunch’.
Today was a sad day, as we returned to enjoy another fabulous meal, and to say Au Revoir, as we start counting down the days until we start the next chapter of our lives...a move to Charente on November 10th.
We have so many wonderful memories of our time in Brittany...the places we’ve visited, and the people we’ve met....
We’re looking forward to the next phase of our lives, and sharing some of the sights and experiences with you.

So........after eight unbelievably great years here at Maisoncalonlan, like swallows we are migrating south. Not quite to Africa, but we have bought an old maison de maître in a small village in the Charente region of France. We will be properly “en retrait” from the first week of November, exchanging three houses and three acres of land for something more manageable and a third of an acre.
Our buyer is a lovely Frenchman who intends to continue the business and in fact Phillipe has plans to develop it further...so watch this space for more announcements from him!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our guests and visitors (many who have become firm friends) for all your support over the last eight years and we would love you to keep in touch and call in if you are ever in our new corner of France.....but not all at the same time!
