Veikko will have the opportunity to create fine artworks alongside children and youth in the 'Loistoluokka' project, which is implemented in partnership with Arx in Hämeenlinna and funded by the EU.
"Loistoluokka Project Launches! ARX is launchin a the new Loistoluokka project, bringing light art into school days and urban events in four municipalities from 2026 to 2029 Co-funded by the EU. The project invites children and young people to desing and create their own light artworks together with professional light artists as part of the school day in Hämeenlinna, Hvvinkää, Kotka and Pori. The expert partner of the project is the Finnish Light Art Society Flash. The completed works will be showcased at the cities own light events, where children and young people will shine as the star artists of their hometowns.
The artists for the first year are Suvi Saastamoinen and Veikko Lappalainen. Saastamoinen works at the intersection of art, landscape architecture and light, and is a member of the interdisciplinary SISU collective.
Lappalainen is an established light artist and a member of the Flowers of Life collective, whose works have been exhibited widely also internationally. In Hämeenlinna, he is known from the Valoilmio festival.
Auni Tuovinen from ARX will serve as the proiect coordinator. Loistoluokka is co-funded by the European Union.
