Attention all! Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes are coming to Club Anvil.
In short: we are moving to the LAST FRIDAY OF THE MONTH, starting on Boxing Day, Friday December 26th. At the end of November, there will be no Anvil at On The Rocks, but there will be Mode For The Masses - A Depeche Mode tribute (Sat 22 Nov) and Club Anvil x Club Maldoro - Lepakkomies edition (Fri 28 Nov). Please spread the word, especially to people not on social media!

We've been going, like clockwork, on the last Thursday of the month since February 2000. I daresay we have even become an institution! But, as an Italian writer once wrote, "if we want things to stay as they are, things will have to change." Institutions must live with the times.
What's changed? Three things. One, people are going out much less these days; the pandemic has had a persistent impact on attendance at all events. Second, people are drinking less. That's good! But it also means that the venue makes less out of bar sales, so that it makes less sense to be open until late on a weeknight. Three, there are many more events in our scene than there were in 2000 -- which also impacts attendance, especially on a weeknight.
So, with some exceptions to come, it will be last Friday of the month, from December onwards. We will be opening a bit later, after the gig, at 11.30pm. There will also be an entry fee of €7 INCLUDING CLOAKROOM (so €3,50 extra). However, FOR THE FIRST HALF HOUR -- UNTIL MIDNIGHT -- admission is only the cloakroom fee (€3,50), as before. Student discounts at the bar are available with your student card.
Musically, there will be no change. And we will of course remain Club Anvil -- a night for the odd ones out, for the ones who live a sideways step away from reality, for the unconventionally conventional and the conventionally unconventional, for all who love dancing to a New Order B-side or whatnot -- for all of you and us who belong together, for a night at the end of the month, even if we don't always feel we belong much anywhere. We will have a zero tolerance for dumb behaviour as always, and encourage you to report any to the bouncers or to us.
We hope that the change will also allow many of you to attend regularly again -- you know who you are, people with jobs and families and all that.
We're looking forward to these changes and hope that they will make the dark star of Club Anvil -- by which I mean all of you -- shine still brighter in the night!

Lyhyesti: siirrymme KUUKAUDEN VIIMEISEEN PERJANTAIHIN, alkaen tapaninpäivästä, perjantaista 26. joulukuuta. Marraskuun lopussa On The Rocksissa ei ole Anvilia, m***a sen sijaan voitte käydä hippaamassa Mode For The Masses - A Depeche Mode tributessa (LA 22.11.) ja Club Anvil x Club Maldoro - Lepakkomies edition issa (PE 28.11.). Levittäkää sanaa -- etenkin niille jotka eivät pyöri somessa!

Olemme tikittäneet säännöllisesti kuin kello, joka kuukauden viimeisenä torstaina, helmikuusta 2000 lähtien. Sanoisinpa jopa, että tästä on tullut instituutio. M***a kuten eräs italialainen kirjailija on kirjoittanut: "Jos haluamme asioiden pysyvän ennallaan, asioiden on muututtava." Instituutioiden on elettävä ajan mukana.
Mikä on muuttunut? Kolme asiaa. Ensiksikin, ihmiset käyvät ulkona nykyään paljon vähemmän; pandemian jälkeen osallistujamäärät ovat tippuneet kaikissa tapahtumissa. Toiseksi, ihmiset juovat vähemmän. Mahtava juttu! M***a tämä tarkoittaa myös, että baarimyynti on pienempää, niin ettei ole taloudellisesti mielekästä pitää klubia auki aamuneljään arki-iltana. Kolmanneksi, Anvilin skenessä on paljon enemmän tapahtumia kuin vuonna 2000 -– mikä vaikuttaa myös kävijämääriin, varsinkin arki-iltana.
Joten, joitakin tulevia poikkeuksia lukuun ottamatta, joulukuusta eteenpäin Anvil avaa ovensa aina kuukauden viimeisenä perjantaina. Avaudumme hieman myöhemmin, keikan jälkeen, klo 23.30. Sisäänpääsymaksu on 7€, JOKA SISÄLTÄÄ NARIKAN (eli 3,50€ lisää). ENSIMMÄISEN PUOLEN TUNNIN AJAN -– KESKIYÖHÖN ASTI – sisäänpääsy onnistuu narikkamaksun (€3,50) hinnalla, kuten ennenkin. Perusjuomat saa opiskelija-alennuksella opiskelijakortin esittämällä.
Musiikillisia muutoksia ei tule. Ja tietenkin pysymme Club Anvilina -– iltana kummajaisille, niille jotka elävät sivuaskeleen verran irti todellisuudesta, epätavanomaisen tavanomaisille ja tavanomaisen epätavanomaisille, kaikille jotka singahtavat tanssilattialle kun joku New Orderin B-puoli tms. pärähtää soimaan -– siis kaikille teille ja meille, jotka kuulumme yhteen, yhden illan ajan kuun lopussa, vaikkemme muuten aina kokisi kuuluvamme oikein mihinkään. Anvilillä on nollatoleranssi typerälle käytökselle, kuten aina; ilmoitattehan sellaisesta portsareille tai meille.
Olemme optimistisia, että tämä muutos tarjoaa monille teistä mahdollisuuden törmätä paikalle säännöllisesti -– te tiedätte keitä olette, te vakioasiakkaamme vuosien takaa työpaikkoinenne, perheinenne, jne.!
Pyritään siihen, että nämä uudistukset saavat Club Anvilin varjoisan tähden -– teidät kaikki -– loistamaan yössä entistä kirkkaampina!
