Because every dream deserves a dress 🩷

Barbie Dream Dress is a photography exhibition of handmade colorful outfits that are made for the Barbie doll using a variety of materials. The dresses are inspired by nature, seasons, everyday objects and hobbies. The playful dresses bring joy and brighten the day. The materials I use for the dresses can be almost anything — from flowers and ice cream to coffee or even hair. Once a dress is complete, I photograph it and add it to my dress catalogue.

My artistic background is in painting and drawing, and dance. But as a result of a funny Christmas calendar project with friends I started to make Barbie dress art a couple of years ago. Now there are already more than 100 dresses! I enjoy the creative process just as much as the final result. Usually there’s an initial idea that later turns into new ideas when I start to play with the material. For me it’s typical to put a lot of attention to detail.

In the exhibition the dreams turn into dresses: Each of them gives the same Barbie a new identity. With every transformation, she becomes someone, or something, else. The picture always has a theme or a story where the viewer can jump in. In the exhibition in Roasberg you can see a collection of sweet summer dresses. Welcome to the world of pretty dresses and coffee dates!
