☀️ Closed 24th August - 31st August ☀️

After an amazing start to the season, we're taking a short family break.

For the first time in our 4 seasons, The Harp Bar will be closed from Monday 24th August until Monday 31st August.

We've never closed during the summer before, but our daughter is now 6 years old, and we'd love to experience a summer holiday together as a family. It's also a chance for us to enjoy a well-earned rest after a fantastic season so far.

We'll be back refreshed and ready to welcome you all from 1st September!

Normally, we don't respond to negative comments. We usually take them for what they are and try to improve where we've gone wrong.

This post, however, has really pushed a button.

This woman came in today and asked for alcohol for her kids. We asked if they had ID because we can be fined €10,000 for serving alcohol to anyone under 18. She considered that rude. We call it not getting our business shut down.

She also mentioned that we don't have air conditioning... outside... on an open terrace. I'll say it again: outside. We do have air conditioning inside. As for outside being hot, she's absolutely right—the sun tends to do that.

A family bar with kids around can get messy. Kids make messes—it's our job to clean up after them, and we do our best. It's a family bar on a GAA weekend, not a five-star restaurant chasing Michelin stars.

This woman has criticised us before in Facebook groups, so why she came back is beyond us.

We do see all the lovely comments, and even the negative ones help us improve where we can. We know not everyone will like the food, the location, or everything else—we can't please everyone. What we can do is work hard every day to give people a great experience and help them enjoy their holidays.

We’re looking for someone:
✅ Friendly and reliable
✅ Good with customers
✅ Able to work evenings/weekends
✅ Experience is a bonus but not essential
