The VIII International Parrot Convention, organized by Loro Parque and Loro Parque Foundación, will take place in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife, from 22nd to 25th September 2014. It is aimed at veterinarians, breeders, scientists, naturalists and, in general, to all fans of parrots and other birds who wish to increase their knowledge and contacts. It is a unique international forum for exchange of information, the exploration of ideas and themes, and the discussion of all topics related to the order Psittaciformes, parrots. The International Parrot Convention meets every four years to around 800 people in one of the most special meetings worldwide owed to it is a conference designed specifically to talk about The VIII International Parrot Convention, organized by Loro Parque and Loro Parque Fundación,will take place in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife, from 22nd to 25th September 2014. Each successive convention offers exceptional and leading-edge presentations with simultaneous translation into Spanish, English, German and French, which makes it unique in the world. It stands out for the quality and professionalism of its speakers from different countries, in the exclusive and incomparable setting of Puerto de la Cruz. This edition coincides with the celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Loro Parque Fundación, so the Convention will be full of pleasant surprises. The Congress also offers three workshops on Hand-rearing, Parrot Nutrition and Disease Prevention & Treatments, which will be held on 26th, 27th and 28th September. These workshops have limited places, so we recommend you to register as soon as possible. Participants have the opportunity to visit Loro Parque, where they can enjoy the innovative and spectacular attraction Katandra Treetops, within which Australian and Asian birds fly freely in a remarkable environment. Also to be seen on display are specimens of Lear's Macaw (Anodorhynchus leari) of Brazil or of Maroon-fronted Parrot (Rhynchopsittaterrisi) of Mexico, providing a unique encounter with species very difficult to spot in the wild and even more so in captivity. Participants may also choose to visit the Breeding Centre of Loro Parque Fundación, the most complete and advanced breeding station for parrots on the Planet. The social programme of the Convention includes a number of attractions, both for Convention participants and accompanying persons, which will surely make their stay more enjoyable. The welcome cocktail on the first night and the gala dinner closing the Congress, both of them in Hotel Botánico, along with a range of additional activities guaranteed to surprise the participants pleasantly, will present a great opportunity to fraternize with people from over 40 countries.
