DOWN MEMORY LANE/ UIT DE OUDE DOOS

2014 our first big football event at the bar, the memories are still fresh!
Theo and Henk making the terrace ready for a big bbq and the following " Big Match " Spain vs Netherlands
The Dutch still with a hangover from the lost final against Spain a few years before which we were not forget and how could we, as that final match was on the for sale televisions everywhere in Spain, but the revenge was sweet!
1-0 behind and the English were supporting the Spanish jajajaja....., but than we (the Dutch) came back and won the match convincingly 5-1
What a party! We celebrated til in the early morning.
After 2014 the Dutch didn't do so good and many times we were not even attending the big events anymore so we supported the Spanish, English and Irish
This Friday the European Cup starts and we made it this time, unfortunately the bar didn't made it this time, but we want to wish all the Spanish, English, Irish and of course the Dutch good luck and may the best team win the Cup!

Bye Bye Shed!

What once started as an adventure in a dark Mosa period, but also literally dark, because Mosa had no longer street lighting, Billy's bar closed, Parador closed, Golf course closed everything closed, but determined not to turn Mosa into a ghost town, has now come to an end!
We are very proud that we managed to keep Mosa alive all these years, when we had nothing else on Mosa, It didn't became a ghost town, in fact Mosa became more and more popular, home owners visited their holiday villas again after years of absence and rented out again, we have had great years at the shed as you all can see on the pictures from "DOWN MEMORY LANE "

So we are a bit emotional, because the shed is gone, it's getting a second life in Alicante.
Emotional, because of the way how it all went, destroyed by certain people, who thought it was necessary to phone the police several times a week, week after week, month after month, which caused the reason that we had to close our shed and move it away, thanks for that! ( you know who you are )

Due to Covid 19 a lot of our customers haven't been to Mosa for a long time and cannot see that the shed is really gone, so we made some pictures from when we build up the shed and building off the shed.

Luckily we can move on in the Commercial Centre, but ironically we will start again in a difficult time, so we hope we can count on your support again in our new bar, when this pandemic is all behind us!

New Year's Eve part 2

Second of January today, so we all had our New Year's Eve of 2020.
We had a great night with family and friends, but not the same as all those years at the bar.
Pictures below are from the last 3 years.
Great fun and memories with themes as disco and flower power, we even smoked the sh**ha pipe!
We will always cherish these good memories, but also looking forward to make new memories in 2021!

New Year's Eve part 1

Almost end of the year, time to show memories from 7 years New Year's Eve at the shed
The first year we started in the shed, later the shed wasn't big enough anymore so we used the tent and turned the tent into a real party tent with a dance floor and disco lights.
Of course every year we had a the theme party, back to the 60's, 70's, 80's, glitter and glamour and you were all great to participate, thank you for that!
At midnight we watched the clock and eat the grapes ( Spanish tradition ) we even wore red underwear, suppose to bring luck ( yea right! )
A glass of bubbles and partying until the early morning.
This year will be different for everyone, but we would like to say to all of you have a wonderful New Year's Eve, watch the clock, eat the grapes, wear the red underwear and kiss under the mistletoe and than fingers crossed for a better 2021 ###

Dear customers, friends and family after more than 7 years, this will be the last Christmas card from "Meiden van de Hoek" bar
We want to wish all of you a wonderful Christmas and a Happy Healthy New Year!
As you all understand 2020 was not our best year, we had to close our bar, the end of sometimes a difficult, but most of all a great and beautiful time!
But as always, when a chapter is closed a new chapter begins.
A NEW year, NEW start, NEW bar, NEW location and a NEW NAME!
We can't wait to welcome you all in 2021!!!

DOWN MEMORY LANE/ UIT DE OUDE DOOS

First we want to wish all our customers, friends and family a Merry Christmas and a Happy Healthy 2021!

Two years we organized a Christmas dinner at the shed ( in the tent ) the first one our resident Anne Gibson made a traditional English Christmas Dinner for us which was amazing.
The second year Mohammed the lovely waiter from Venta El Puerto 1 ( I think we all know him ) made a magic dinner on the barbecue for us, yes Mohammed is not only a waiter, but an excellent cook too!
It was great, but without a real kitchen almost impossible to do, so following years we kept it in private and opened the bar only at night time for mulled wine and hot chocolate, but still warm memories of the Christmas Dinners we had at the shed.
Exciting for next year when we can offer you again a Christmas Dinner in our new place on Christmas Day.

DOWN MEMORY LANE/ UIT DE OUDE DOOS

As we said last week December was always a busy month at Meiden van de Hoek.
On Christmas eve there was " Secret Santa " about a week before we draw names and bought a present for each other, Santa & Elf were visiting us again and handed out the presents to everyone, but of course after sitting on his lap first!
Singing Christmas Carols and enjoying the mulled wine, mince pies and the great Christmas Atmosphere.

DOWN MEMORY LANE / UIT DE OUDE DOOS

December was always a busy month full of activities at Meiden van de Hoek bar!
Begin of December we started with the " Christmas Fair " our Joanne started to organize the first one with her lovely stall full of Christmas gifts and raffle, Shirley organized the very popular " Tombola " and every year our fairs became bigger ( 23 stalls ) and more popular. We even had a real " Santa's Grotto " made by Sharon and Gary which attracted every year more people and children from all around the area, all so excited to see Santa and his Elf. The raffles were getting bigger and prices were donated by local businesses as Airemar, Venta el Puerto, MySunset, Galaxy golf, the vets donated and many many more.
The money raised from the fairs were always donated to the local animal charities.
We can't wait to organize the Christmas Fair again in our new place we hope to see you all again in the future. xx

DOWN MEMORY LANE / UIT DE OUDE DOOS

Already the fifth " Down memory lane "
These photos shows what a great community Mosa had, many " paella/bbq/ribs " nights we had with the community and organized by the community/neighbors.
The first paella party organized by Ted and Chantal and made the paella by themselves and of course everyone was invited
We had neighbour José who owned also a tapas bar in Murcia and organized for us a typical Spanish " tapa night " with the real Spanish tapas and of course fancy dress.
Carlos ( previous waiter at the Parador ) behind the bbq.
Neighbour Joaquin's sister who made 3 paellas at one of the paella nights.
We had Alex and Ingrid loyal holidaymakers, they organized a " Ribs Night " I still remember the ribs were to die for!
Our Anne Gibson if there was an anniversary or birthday she made designer cakes and the most wonderful buffets
And last but not least of course our own chef Demi who made many many paellas and bbq's Demi and Anne also managed to make proper food for an Irish swimming club of 32 persons for 5 days when they chose Mosa as accommodation on their training camp.
