WHY ARE SPANIARDS WARY OF TUESDAY THE 13TH? 😱

In Spain, Tuesday the 13th is traditionally considered unlucky, much like Friday the 13th in the UK.

But why Tuesday? 🤔

⚔️ Mars, the God of War: The Spanish word martes comes from Mars, the Roman god of war, linking the day to conflict and misfortune.

🔢 The Number 13: Long associated with bad luck, the number is linked to Judas at the Last Supper and death symbolism in Tarot.

🏰 History: Constantinople fell on Tuesday, 29 May 1453, an event sometimes linked to the superstition.

🇪🇸 The Spanish warning:
“En martes 13, ni te cases, ni te embarques, ni de tu casa te apartes.”

Translation: “On Tuesday the 13th, don't marry, don't set sail, and don't leave home!”

Theres rumours going around the smoking ban has been scrapped, in actual fact it hasnt, but due to pedro sanchex calling a snap general election then it is on hold, just until the new government comes in, though they will have to start again with the campagne.
whats your thoughts?
as a smoker myself i love to sit on a terrace, drink in one hand, ciggy in the other, watching the world go by! i am of course aware of people around me and try and blow it away.

Dont forget folks tomorrow 9th Oct is Valencia Day (Día de la Comunidad Valenciana) a red day(bank holiday)
and then Monday 12th Oct is National Day of Spain (Fiesta Nacional de España.
On these days, most businesses, banks, and government offices close, though bars and restaurants often stay open especially in tourist areas.

After yesterday's post, I think I need to explain the subscriber side of things a bit better.
The normal Benidorm content I post here isn't changing.
The photos, videos, weather, stories, things happening around Benidorm and my own experiences will all still be free, just as they always have been.

The subscription side is something separate. Ive called it Benidorm unzipped
It's about going behind the scenes with the people you see performing around Benidorm.
Singers, dancers, comedians, tribute artists and other entertainers.
I want to find out more about the person behind the performance.
How did they get here?

I've already filmed my first interview and it is uploaded to the subscribers page already.
So instead of me trying to explain it all in another long post, here's a little bit from the my first interview with Cher Experience Benidorm

This is what Benidorm Unzipped is about.

The full interview is exclusive to subscribers, along with the other Unzipped content I'm working on.

Hopefully that makes the difference between the two a bit clearer. 👍

I've been thinking about this for a while, and I think it's time I just said it as it is.

I'd like to make this my job.

I've been in Benidorm since 2006, apart from the bit where I stupidly thought I'd never come back 😂, and over the years I've worked here, watched the place change, met some great people and collected a hell of a lot of stories.

I've already got the page monetised, and some of the posts have reached hundreds of thousands of people, so I know there's an audience here.

What I'm trying to do now is see if I can turn that into something that actually pays the bills.

I've also got Benidorm Unzipped, which is my subscriber-only side of things. That's where I can go a bit deeper and get behind the scenes with the singers, dancers, comedians, tribute acts and all the other people who entertain us here.

I'm not going to start bombarding everyone with “SUBSCRIBE NOW!” posts because, quite honestly, I'd find that annoying myself. 😂

I'd rather make the content good enough that people actually want to see more.

But if you enjoy what I do, and you'd like to help me make this my main income, becoming a subscriber is the best way you can support me.

It's €1.99 a month.

My target is 2,000 subscribers.

Is that a bit ambitious?

Probably. 😂

Is it impossible?

I don't think so.

If I eventually get there, I'll know that 2,000 people decided that what I'm doing was worth supporting.

And for me, that would mean a hell of a lot.

So that's the plan.

I'm still here.

I'm still making the content.

And I'm going to give it a bloody good go.

Thanks to everyone who's followed me over the years, and also to those who've only just found the page.

When was your first visit to Benidorm ?
I'll start, mine was 2006, i was the last Dj to work Linekers before it changed name, after the winter season i swore i would never come back, but at the end of 2009 i decided to give it one more try as i didnt want to go back to the U.K after working the summer in Corfu, been here ever since!
