⛈️ POTENTIAL STORMS THIS AFTERNOON – BENIDORM ⚠️

A little weather heads-up for anyone in Benidorm and around the Costa Blanca today…

Though you wouldn't believe it looking at the sky right now; thunderstorms are forecast to develop across parts of the region this afternoon and into the evening, with conditions potentially becoming unsettled quite quickly.

For Benidorm, the risk looks to increase later this afternoon, aroubd 5pm, with the possibility of:

⛈️ Thunder & lightning
🌧️ Sudden heavy downpours
💨 Strong gusts of wind
🧊 Hail possible with some storms

⚠️ There are higher-level weather warnings in force elsewhere across the Valencian Community today, but Benidorm and the southern Alicante coast are NOT currently in the same orange storm warning area.

This also doesn't mean Benidorm is definitely going to get a big storm, or because its a lesser yellow warning we shouldn't take as much caution.

Summer thunderstorms here can be incredibly localised, but also incredibly volatile. one area can get absolutely hammered while somewhere just a few kilometres away sees very little.

So, with the potential for storms to develop later, it's definitely one to be aware of if you're planning to spend the afternoon at the beach, around a pool, on a boat trip or generally outdoors.

Keep an eye on the sky and the latest forecasts as we head through the afternoon. 👀⛈️

We'll also be watching how things develop and will update if it starts looking like anything significant is heading towards Benidorm.

No need to panic... just worth knowing about before making your plans for this afternoon. 👍

🇪🇺 ETIAS DELAYED AGAIN❓️

It looks like we could be waiting even longer for Europe's new ETIAS travel authorisation system.

ETIAS had most recently been expected to launch in the final quarter of 2026, but that timeframe has now disappeared from the EU's main official ETIAS website.

Instead, the EU now simply states that ETIAS is not currently in operation and that the specific start date will be announced several months before its launch.

Reports are now suggesting the system has been delayed again, potentially into 2027. However, there is currently no confirmed new launch date, so I'd be cautious of any reports claiming a specific 2027 date.

For anyone travelling to Benidorm, Spain or elsewhere in the EU (Schengen) the important bit is simple:

🔴 You do NOT currently need an ETIAS.
🔴 Applications are NOT currently open.
🔴 There is NO confirmed new launch date yet.

ETIAS was originally supposed to arrive years ago and has already suffered a string of delays, so this appears to be yet another setback for the long-awaited system.

⚠️ One quick warning: there are also suspicious and misleading ETIAS websites appearing online. As applications aren't currently open, don't pay anyone claiming they can obtain your ETIAS now ‼️
