❤️🎶 ONE LAST POST FROM ME…

Well… what a way to finish.

Last night was everything I could have hoped for and more. So many familiar faces came through the door to say hello, goodbye, have one last drink and share one last dance.

And, judging by the empties this morning, some of you took the “one last drink” part rather less literally than others. 😂🍻

Bottles were emptied, a few glasses didn't survive the night, knees were bruised and dignity may have been temporarily misplaced.

But I'm delighted to report that, despite everything, there are no black eyes this morning. So I'm calling that a successful night. 🤣

There was dancing, brilliant music, ridiculous amounts of laughter… and more than a few tears. ❤️

I couldn't have got through it without the three amazing women helping me behind the bar — the three Js - my sister Jo, my bessie from the UK Jo, and my bessie in Benalmádena Jules. They poured drinks, cleared glasses, kept things moving and, most importantly, kept me going when the emotions threatened to get the better of me.

I love you girls. ❤️

And to every single person who came last night — thank you.

In fact, thank you to everyone who has walked through the doors of Seacruise during my time here.

When I started this crazy Spanish adventure, I thought I was opening a bar.

What I didn't realise was that I was opening a door to hundreds of people I would otherwise never have met.

Some came once.
Some came every holiday.
Some became regulars.
Some became friends.

And some became people I simply cannot imagine my life without.

That's the bit nobody tells you about running a bar.

You think you're going into the drinks business.
You're actually going into the people business.

And I've been incredibly lucky with my people. ❤️

We've danced, laughed, celebrated, commiserated, quizzed, put the world to rights and shared thousands of conversations across that little bar.

We've celebrated some people and we've mourned others.

We've made memories that will stay with me long after I've forgotten how many barrels I've changed, glasses I've washed and floors I've mopped.

And somehow, somewhere along the way, this little bar tucked away in Benalmádena became so much more than somewhere I went to work.

It became home.

So this really is my last post from Seacruise.

It's a strange feeling writing those words.

I'm leaving Spain with considerably more grey hairs than I arrived with, a collection of mosquito scars, several questionable life lessons and enough stories to bore people with for decades. 😂

But I'm also leaving with something far more important.

You.

The friendships I've made here don't disappear because I'm going home.

The memories don't get packed away with the glasses.

And the people who've found a place in my heart are staying firmly where they are. ❤️

Thank you for every drink, every dance, every hug, every laugh and every moment.

Thank you for making this ridiculous, wonderful, occasionally disastrous Spanish adventure completely unforgettable.

I came to Spain looking for an adventure.

I found my people.

And I don't think I could have asked for a better ending than last night. ❤️

Right… that's quite enough emotion.

Before I start crying again, I'm signing off.

Thank you, Seacruise.
Thank you, Benalmádena.
Thank you, all of you.

What a bloody adventure it's been. ❤️🎶🍻

Now let's get that password changed! 🤣

❤️🎶 ONE LAST NIGHT BEHIND THE BAR…

Well… apparently this is it.

My last night behind the bar at Seacruise.

I came to Spain with absolutely no idea where this particular chapter of my life was going to take me. In hindsight, that was probably just as well. Had somebody handed me the full itinerary in advance, I might have got straight back on the plane. 😂

There have been heatwaves, torrential rain, power cuts, broken equipment, poorly knees, chest infections, mosquitoes with a personal vendetta, Spanish bureaucracy, questionable life choices and enough “What the bloody hell do I do now?” moments to fill a book.

And then, just to make sure my departure was suitably dramatic, my car decided to lose its brakes in Bordeaux and remain there indefinitely.

Even the car doesn’t want this chapter to end. 🙈🤣

But somehow, amongst all the chaos, something rather wonderful happened.

I found my people. ❤️

People I would never have known existed if I hadn’t been daft enough to take this crazy leap.

Customers became regulars.
Regulars became friends.
And some of those friends became family.

We’ve danced together, laughed until we cried, put the world to rights over the bar, celebrated birthdays, anniversaries and new beginnings. We’ve had music quizzes, parties, quiet afternoons that somehow turned into very late evenings, and moments that will stay with me for the rest of my life.

We’ve also lost some people along the way. People whose empty chairs will always be noticed and whose memories will forever be part of this little place. ❤️

When I opened Seacruise, I thought I was creating a bar.

I didn't realise I was creating a place where paths would cross that otherwise never would have.

And mine crossed with yours.

That is what I will take home with me.

Not the beer barrels, the bills or the endless cleaning. Definitely not the bloody mosquitoes. 🦟😂

I'll take the friendships. The laughter. The hugs. The stories. The music. The people who walked through the door as strangers and somehow became part of my life.

Circumstances mean I need to go home now. Sometimes life changes the plan and reminds you where you're needed most. I know leaving is the right thing to do.

That doesn't make it easy.

But I'm incredibly lucky. I'm handing Seacruise over to people who want to keep its heart beating, the music playing and the welcome warm. And I hope you'll give them the friendship and support that you've given me.

So tonight, there'll be no long faces.

Well… that's the plan. We'll see how long that lasts after the first drink. 🥹😂

Come and have one with me. Dance if the right record comes on. Give me a hug. Tell me a story I've already heard seventeen times.

And when it's finally time for me to walk out and close that door for the last time, I'll try very hard not to look backwards.

Because this crazy little Spanish adventure gave me something I never expected.

It gave me all of you.

And wherever life takes me next, a little piece of my heart will always be behind that bar in Benalmádena. ❤️

Thank you for walking through the door.

Thank you for staying.

And thank you for making the craziest decision of my life one of the very best.

One last shift.
One last drink.
One last dance.

Then somebody please make sure I actually leave. 😂❤️🎶

Hopefully see you tonight, mi familia.

Deb ❤️

🚪 Doors open 2pm
🎤 Quiz 3–5pm
🍽️ FREE TAPAS

We’ll be dedicating it to the memory of Marlene McGregor, who sadly passed away during our summer break.

Marlene came along every week from when we first started the quiz back in February and quickly became part of our little Seacruise quiz family. She was a lovely lady, a familiar face around the bar and someone who will be very much missed by all of us who had the pleasure of knowing her.

So tomorrow we'll remember Marlene in the way we think she'd have liked — with good music, good company, plenty of laughs and the quiz she enjoyed so much. ❤️🎶

RIP Marlene. There'll be a seat missing tomorrow. 🕊️❤️

And for everyone joining us, indoor seating is limited, so if you want to make sure you've got a seat for the quiz, drop us a message and we'll reserve one for you. Places are filling fast though so don't wait too long!

🎶🍻 WEEK ONE: WE’RE BACK… AND WE’VE ALMOST SURVIVED! 😂

After the small matter of actually getting back to Spain, we then spent two full, exhausting days cleaning, sorting, pressure washing, problem solving and generally trying to turn Seacruise back into Seacruise… all in 80+ degree heat and humidity. 🥵

But at 2pm on Friday, WE OPENED! 🎉

And I honestly can’t tell you how lovely it’s been to be welcomed back by so many familiar faces. After the journey from hell, seeing you all again has made it worthwhile. 🫶❤️

Gary, one of the new owners, arrived the same day as us, so he’s had a ringside seat for the whole frantic operation. He’s watched calmly from the sidelines, asking questions and taking it all in…

Unfortunately, the mosquitoes have also been getting to know him. 😂🦟

His left arm and back currently resemble a dot-to-dot puzzle. We’ve lotioned and potioned him up to the eyeballs and hopefully he’s already learned his first important lesson about life in Spain:

Open windows + no mosquito nets = ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT GARY. 🙈🤣

It’s actually been a relatively quiet few days, which has suited me perfectly. Gary and I have had plenty of time to chat and I’ve been able to introduce him to some of the lovely people who make Benalmádena feel like home.

But things step up a gear this week…

🎤 THURSDAY – THE MUSIC QUIZ IS BACK!

The one and only DJ Stevie Soul returns from 3pm, and you’ll also get the chance to sample some food from the new owners. If their chef credentials are anything to go by, I think we could all be in for a treat! 😋

Jonno and his lovely wife Tracey — another chef! — will also be here, so it’s a chance to meet another of the new owners too.

Inside places for the quiz are limited, so please message me to reserve a table if you want to make sure you get a seat.

And then there’s Saturday… 😬❤️

IF I MAKE IT THAT FAR, IT’S MY LEAVING/HANDOVER PARTY! 🥂🎶💃

Please come down, have a drink, say goodbye and, most importantly, make absolutely certain I actually leave. 😂

Because there is one tiny flaw in the plan…

🚗 CAR UPDATE:
It is STILL sitting in the same recovery yard in Bordeaux, apparently waiting for a tow truck to bring it to Benalmádena to be repaired.

So technically, at the moment…

I CAN’T LEAVE. 🙈🤣

After everything that’s happened, would we really have expected anything else?

Here’s to one final week at Seacruise. ❤️🎶🍻

04/09/2026

We finally made it back to Spain
Our journey from hell, we overcame
Left the car over in France
Got a flight and took a chance
Back to the Soul Lounge, friends old and new
My love for these people will always be true
My last two weeks, to make some noise
And finally handover to the Runcorn boys
I know their passion , like mine is true
They so much want to look after you
So join us at the Seacruise and say hello
To share a drink before I go
I will always pop back, but the other side of the bar
To support the lads from afar
My customers I will miss you, with a tear in my eye
The Seacruise Soul Lounge will never die ❤️

Gary Didsbury ❤️❤️❤️

🎉🍻 RIGHT THEN… LET'S TRY THIS AGAIN! 🎶

After passports, ferries booked in the wrong direction, storms, broken brakes, recovery trucks, insurance companies, swollen body parts, mosquito attacks and an unexpected extended stay in Bordeaux… I feel it would be very naive to bet that everything at Seacruise will be working perfectly today. 🤣

No guarantees the beer will be cold, if the tills will work, or the toilets will flush and that nothing will burst into flames, who knows?🤷‍♀️😂

What I CAN tell you is that Seacruise Soul Lounge is OPEN TODAY FROM 2PM! 🎉🍻

And come hell, high water, biblical plague or another strongly worded intervention from the universe via the till co, our opening hours from today, Friday 4th September, are:

🎶 Thursday – Sunday
🍻 2pm – 10pm

And there's more good news...

🎤 DJ Stevie Soul and his Rock & Pop Quiz returns to Seacruise Soul Lounge Thursday 10th September. Come say hello 💃🎵🫶

More details on that coming soon, but places inside fill up quickly, so if you want to guarantee a seat you'll have to be quick off the mark and let me knows how big the team is 🤣🤪

So... deep breath...

Doors open at 2pm.

What could possibly go wrong? 😬🤣🍻🎶❤️
