“The Domaine Francois Gaunoux is a renowned Cote d’Or, family estate of about 10 hectares still privately owned and controlled by the family. We are proud of the quality and the age of our vineyards. We plant our vines to reach full maturity which enables us to produce approachable and complex wine.

GREAT BURGUNDY WHITE WINE FROM PERNAND-VERGELESSES AND ALOXE-CORTON

The Grand Cru Corton-Charlemagne evokes history. Corton is a composite meaning "Othon's Court". In medieval Latin cortis designated the courtyard and it was used in the same way as the gallo-Roman villa, indicating a property belonging to a member of the Frankisk nobility.

Charlemagne is linked to a well-known endowment. The church in Aloxe, dedicated to Saint Médard, was placed under the patronage of the Saulieu Collegiate to which Charlemagne donated his vineyards in 775.

CHÂTEAU MOUTON ROTHSCHILD

The now-famous series of labels portrayed on the labels for Mouton Rothschild started in 1945. With the famous “V” for Victory label, a tradition was born! From that point on, each label vintage was based on an original work of art created specifically for this purpose by famous artists: Salvador Dali, Miro, Chagall, Braque, Picasso, Warhol, Bacon, Balthus, Tàpies, David Hockney, and a myriad of famous artists have contributed to this tradition.

JOHN HUSTON watercolour for the Mouton Rothschild 1982 label is one of the last pictures he ever painted. Sensual, graceful, using deep, warm colours, it returns in representational style to the symbolic theme of the Ram, leaping in dionysiac joy, accompanied by its inseparable companions, the sun and the vine.
