Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you’ve probably heard there’s a World Cup starting tomorrow… ⚽🏆

Give it a few days and there’ll be people in here celebrating goals from countries they couldn’t have found on a map last week.

By the end of the tournament somebody will be claiming they’ve always had a soft spot for Ecuador, someone else will be blaming a referee they’ve never heard of and at least one person will be convinced their sweepstake envelope was cursed from the start 😄

That’s half the fun of a World Cup.

This year we’ve added a couple of ways to make things even more interesting.

The twist is nobody knows who they’ve got until every envelope has been sold and we do the big reveal.

It’s amazing how quickly a group of grown adults can become obsessed with a tiny white ball 😄🎱

Yesterday’s Summer BBQ & Doubles Open had everything you’d want.

Some great pool.
Some questionable pool.
A lot of laughs.
Tasty burgers and hot dogs.
And enough banter to keep everybody entertained.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported it.

The best part for me was seeing people mixing, laughing and enjoying themselves whether they were playing, watching or just there for the food.

Now onto today…

Lo mejor para mí fue ver a la gente mezclarse, reírse y disfrutar tanto si jugaban, como si animaban o simplemente venían por la comida.

Friday always seems to split people into two groups 😄🍻

The ones with a detailed plan for the day…

And the ones who’ll decide what they’re doing sometime around lunchtime.

If you’re in the second group, we’ve got a pretty good option.

Today is one of those days built for taking your time. A few games of pool, burgers on the BBQ, music playing, people coming and going and no real need to keep checking the clock.

And before anyone asks…

You don’t need to be playing in the pool competition to come along.

The BBQ is open to everyone.

So whether you’re playing, spectating or simply fancy a burger, a drink and a few hours out, you’re very welcome.

A few people have asked whether they need to be good at pool to enter Friday’s Summer BBQ & Doubles Open.

The answer is absolutely not 😄🎱

This isn’t one of those serious all day tournaments where everyone turns up looking like they’ve practised for six months.

It’s a social afternoon.

A few games of pool, a bit of friendly rivalry, burgers on the BBQ, music playing, drinks on the tables and plenty of laughs along the way.

Some teams will be playing to win.

Some teams will be playing not to win the b***y prize 🤣

Both approaches are perfectly acceptable.

And if pool isn’t really your thing, don’t forget the BBQ is open to everyone. You don’t need to be playing to come along and enjoy the afternoon.

Well that’s May out of the way 😄☀️

The longer evenings have arrived, summer opening hours start today and suddenly it feels like we’re properly into the season.

You don’t need to be playing in the competition to come along. The BBQ is open to everyone and it’s the sort of afternoon where people drift between the terrace, the BBQ and the pool tables without worrying too much about the time.

Anybody else finding themselves making more excuses to stop for a cold drink once the weather starts heating up properly? 😄🍻

One person cooling down with a Magners, somebody else moving round chasing the sun and another saying they’re “only stopping for one” before the afternoon quietly disappears on them.

We’re open from 12:00 today with roasties on, cold drinks flowing and the sort of easy midweek atmosphere where people tend to stay longer than they planned.

Pool, darts, sport on the TVs and plenty of room for people to spread themselves out and settle in for a while.

And if enough people are in for the football later, we’ll happily stay open until the final whistle tonight ⚽

¿A alguien más le pasa que en cuanto empieza el calor de verdad aparecen más excusas para parar a tomar algo fresco? 😄🍻
