Ny färöisk delegation till Nordiska rådet 🇫🇴
Vi är glada att välkomna Sunnvá Dahl Høgfeldt och Bjørg Brynhildardóttir Egholm som nya medlemmar i den färöiska delegationen till Nordiska rådet. Här delar de sina nordiska hjärtefrågor och sina prioriteringar i det fortsatta samarbetet.
Bjørg Brynhildardóttir Egholm 🇫🇴
(Tjóðveldi og Nordisk grønt venstre) svarer:
“Færøerne ønsker meget klart fuldt medlemskab i Nordisk Råd, og jeg vil arbejde for at fremme denne proces, som kræver ændringer i Helsingforsaftalen. Fuld medlemskab vil styrke Færøernes selvstændige stemme og politiske indflydelse i det nordiske samarbejde, men det handler ikke kun om vores egne interesser. Det vil også styrke Nordisk Råd som helhed, ved at bringe mere mangfoldige erfaringer og perspektiver ind i samarbejdet, som vi som lille samfund kan bidrage med. Samtidig kan det bidrage til en mere ligeværdig deltagelse for også Grønland og Åland i det nordiske fællesskab.”
“Omkring 40 % af unge færinger forlader Færøerne i starten af 20'erne, og kun halvdelen af dem kommer hjem til Færøerne igen. Dette svækker både demokratisk deltagelse og samfundets udvikling. Jeg vil arbejde for stærkere nordiske løsninger, der gør det lettere at bevare tilknytningen under uddannelse og til at vende tilbage efterfølgende.”
“I denne sammenhæng er det vigtigt at have et tæt samarbejde med Ungdomens Nordiska Råd (UNR), så unges perspektiver og erfaringer med fraflytning og ungdomsliv bliver en aktiv del af det nordiske politiske arbejde. Samtidig må vi blive ved med at styrke unges stemmer i demokratiet og i politiske sammenhænge.”

“Det nordiske samarbejde er vigtigere nu end nogensinde, derfor er det også af størst betydning, at Færøerne, Grønland og Åland får mulighed for at blive ligestillet med de andre fem lande i samarbejdet. Vi har brug for et sammentømret Norden bestående af 8 lande.”
“Jeg vil arbejde for, at de nordiske lande har så få grænsehindringer som muligt.”
“Verden bliver mere og mere urolig, og krig og uro hærger nu også i Europa. Jeg mener, at Nordisk Råd er en helt unik mulighed for, at de 8 nordiske lande styrker samarbejdet om forsvar og sikkerhed.”
“Havet binder Norden sammen, og derfor skal vi blive klogere sammen. Det skal vi gøre samtidig med, at vi værner om de ressourcer, som havet giver os.”

New Faroese Delegation to the Nordic Council 🇫🇴
We are pleased to welcome Sunnvá Dahl Høgfeldt and Bjørg Brynhildardóttir Egholm as new members of the Faroese delegation to the Nordic Council. Here, they share their key Nordic priorities and focus areas for the continued cooperation.
Bjørg Brynhildardóttir Egholm 🇫🇴
(Tjóðveldi and Nordic Green Left) responds:
“The Faroe Islands clearly seek full membership in the Nordic Council, and I will work to advance this process, which requires changes to the Helsinki Treaty. Full membership would strengthen the Faroe Islands’ independent voice and political influence within the Nordic cooperation, but it is not only about our own interests. It would also strengthen the Nordic Council as a whole by bringing more diverse experiences and perspectives into the cooperation—something we, as a small society, can contribute. At the same time, it can support more equal participation for Greenland and Åland within the Nordic community.”
“Around 40% of young Faroese people leave the Faroe Islands in their early twenties, and only half of them return. This weakens both democratic participation and societal development. I will work for stronger Nordic solutions that make it easier to maintain ties during education and to return afterwards.”
“In this context, close cooperation with the Nordic Youth Council (UNR) is important so that young people’s perspectives and experiences of migration and youth life become an active part of Nordic political work. At the same time, we must continue to strengthen young people’s voices in democracy and political processes.”

“Nordic cooperation is more important now than ever. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance that the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Åland are given the opportunity to become equal to the other five countries within the cooperation. We need a cohesive Nordic region consisting of eight countries.”
“I will work to ensure that the Nordic countries face as few border obstacles as possible.”
“The world is becoming increasingly unsettled, and war and instability are now also affecting Europe. I believe the Nordic Council is a truly unique opportunity for the eight Nordic countries to strengthen cooperation on defence and security.”
“The sea binds the Nordic region together, and therefore we must grow wiser together—while at the same time protecting the resources the sea provides.”
