Join us on September 10 for Nadim Choufi's performative poetry reading "A Dragon in the Halls of Diplomacy", Part of the WING WING program and the Berlin Art Week Featured 2026 | 9-13 SEPT

A poet sends his editor his last poem and tells him to find the monster this poem is written for. "You will know him when you see him". The performance follows the editors search throught poetry, love, monstrosity, and the halls of diplomacy.

Performed by Nadim Choufi with vocal artist Dai Solayman, this piece draws on the poetic lineage of acquiring new skins to create a rich tapestry of metamorphosis, longing, and survival.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for "Revolution Is a Dinner Party" by the artist Kexin Hao and got caught by the catchy beats and the latest mission of its main characters - rat and sparrow - which is: to eat, to eat, to eat!

This event was the first in our new performance series WING WING. We hope to see you again at the next ones!

Thanks to everyone who joined us for the release of Simurgh Селф-Xелп (Self-Help), Slavs and Tatars’ newest book with JRP|EDITION!

Last Thursday we were delighted to welcome Beatrix Ruf, Misal Adnan Yıldız and Slavs and Tatars who discussed the main topic of the book: the eagle as a bird related to toxic masculinity and its translation into the Simurgh, a transnational, metaphysical and gender-fluid mythical creature found across the Turkic-Persianate world.

Simurgh Селф-Xелп (Self-Help) is the 2025 edition of Ringer’s traditional annual report.

Join us on June 26 for the “Revolution Is a Dinner Party” performance by Kexin Hao, part of the WING WING program and the Project Space Festival Berlin 2026!
Kexin Hao adapts for Pickle Bar a hand-puppet performance originally commissioned for Survival Kit 2025 at the LCCA Riga. Combining singing and spoken word, the work reimagines Mao Zedong’s phrase, “Revolution is not a dinner party,” as an invitation to reflect on food, pests, and kinship. The play stages an afterlife dialogue between a sparrow and a rat. Drawing on Mao’s “Smash Sparrows” campaign and the French “Great Hanoi Rat Massacre,” the two debate class conflict and historical injustice, revealing how humans and so-called vermin have been entangled through political violence, colonial sanitation campaigns, and projects of social control.
WING WING is a program of performances, investigating politics as a form of contemporary mythology, where narratives of power and identity are performed, exaggerated, and reimagined. Through the language of drag, persona, and monstrous embodiment, it reveals how social and political realities can be both exposed and transformed through acts of performance and metamorphosis.

Join us Thursday June 11th at 7pm for a reading, screening and discussion with of Simurgh Селф-Xелп (Self-Help), Slavs and Tatars’ newest book. Revisiting Marcel Broodthaers’ seminal work Musée d’Art Moderne: Département des Aigles (1968–1972), replacing or “translating” the eagle—a symbol of power and empire that is used to challenge our understanding of authority and value—with the Simurgh, a mythical bird found across the Turkic-Persianate world. Whilst the eagle is often associated with nation-states and masculinity, the Simurgh is decidedly transnational, metaphysical, and flamboyant, if not gender-fluid. If modern and contemporary art institutions in Broodthaers’ time were largely situated between the Rhineland and Northeast United States, the multipolarity of today’s art world is a fait accompli: with biennials in Jeddah, museums in Kazakhstan, amongst others, rivaling the traditional centers of power.

Since 1998, Ringier, the Swiss-based global media company, has traditionally commissioned an artist to design its annual report. Publisher Michael Ringier and curator Beatrix Ruf initiated this series as a means of reinforcing the links between art and the activities of the company. Simurgh Селф-Xелп is the 2025 edition.

Misal Adnan Yıldız is a curator, researcher, and educator. Alongside Ljubljana-based curator Tia Čiček, Yıldız co-curated the 20th edition of Mediterrenea (Biennial of Young Artists), co-organized by BJCEM and ŠKUC as part of GO!25 in Nova Gorica/Gorizia (European Capital of Culture, 2025), which featured 94 positions from 16 countries. His previous institutional roles include serving as the co-director of the Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden, Germany, a post he shared with Çağla Ilk from May 2020 until July 2024. He is the former director of Artspace Aotearoa in Auckland, New Zealand (2014–2017) and, prior to this, held the position of artistic director at Künstlerhaus Stuttgart (2011–2014). Since April 2026, he has held a senior curator position at the Gorki Theater in Berlin as part of the transdisciplinary team of the Intendant (Artistic Director), Çağla Ilk.
