As the time approaches to close the doors of our beloved bar in Berlin, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been part of this colourful story.

Thank you to the “builders” and designers who believed in our vision and transformed it into a reality.

To our dedicated current and former staff, your loyalty and commitment have been the soul of Palabrar. You have not only served superb drinks but also created an atmosphere of warmth and fun that will be missed dearly. Each of you has played a vital role in making our bar a welcoming haven for all and the safe space of many.

A special mention goes to the DJs and musicians who graced our home-made stage or shared the space behind the bar with us, just on a different mixer. Your talent brought our nights to life by sharing new music and meeting / making people mad about it.

To our customers (who travelled from far away) and the local community of Fhain, thank you for choosing us as your gathering place for laughter, listening to sometimes unconventional music, celebrating many occasions and either enjoying mezcal or accepting the challenge of tying it. It has been an honour to serve you.

To our mezcal suppliers, we are grateful for your exceptional spirits (in all senses) that enriched our offerings and made it possible to have a real mezcalería in Germany. Your dedication to quality has allowed us to share unique flavours with our patrons, showcasing Mexico’s cultural and culinary richness first hand.

To all our pre Palabra friends and the new ones we won with Palabra. You are proof this was all worth the risk and effort!!!

I am Nico and I have the immense honor of taking over the beautiful place fka Palabra Bar from November and transforming it into YSY. First, I would like to thank Alonso for the wonderful collaboration, the trust placed in me, the harmonious handover over the last few weeks and, last but not least, the touching words in Tuesday’s instagram post. Special thanks also go to the team and the numerous guests and artists who have already made this bar what it is over the course of several great nights in Berlin, Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg.

We are really looking forward to taking you on an exciting journey into a new chapter and would be delighted if YSY appeals to and inspires you. The next few weeks will be very special & we are very excited about everything we will experience together.

Last rounds ‘til the end of October!

As Palabra Bar, the Frankfurter Allee 23 became a meeting point for music and mezcal lovers.

Friends - old and new - have come together to celebrate, discover and share a love of music, fine Mexican spirits, artists and artisans.

Thanks to all of you!!! Your support has turned our weekends into beautiful encounters, filled with fantastic tunes, memorable connections and most importantly, fun!

We’ve fulfilled our vision, and successfully established a safe space that enriches Berlin’s cultural landscape, proudly showcasing our Mexican heritage while embracing and celebrating all cultures.

And now, the next chapter is about to begin - is taking the torch - to open YSY, a cultural venue with a custom-built sound system - raising the mixology game with an exciting new drinks menu.

Mauricio Fleury presents “Scharf!”, featuring Afro-Latin-Brazilian soulful music from Psych to Boogie.

This Saturday 19th October, from 9pm

Presenting a very personal selection of African Latin Brazilian psych, rare grooves, soul and boogie, yet improvising freely, going where the mood takes him.

For the past 20 years, Mauricio Fleury has been making music happen, whether as a DJ and producer or playing different instruments across various styles. His collaborations in concerts and recordings cover almost the entire spectrum of what is most interesting in contemporary Brazilian music and its fusion with hip-hop, jazz, rock or just MPB, and has already performed and/or recorded with artists such as Gal Costa, João Donato, Marlena Shaw, Orlando Julius, Tony Allen, Ben Lamar Gay, Marcos Valle, Quantic, Instituto Mexicano de Sonido y Toy Selectah, amongst others. Now based in Berlin, he brings a vinyl DJ set that connect those influences, playing tropical music and funk from different periods and locations: from Brazilian Boogie to West African Disco to Leftfield Pysch to Hypnotic grooves and beyond.

João Comazzi presents “Buriti Session”, featuring a mix of Musica Popular Brasileira Contemporanea, Balearic, Electronica and Samba.

From the city of Goiânia - Brazil, João, a musician, producer, and DJ based in Berlin.
His sets are a celebration of diverse musical influences, passionate about crafting and discovering new sounds, he remains dedicated to his artistic exploration by experimenting with a range of instruments, both traditional and modern. As a producer, he has launched music with Púca Sounds, Rouge Mécanique Musique, Huveshta Rituals and he is about to launch his debut solo EP with the record label “Bless You,” which features prominent figures from Brazilian music, including Bororó Felipe and Gilú Amaral.
