Six people walked in at ten past six with no booking. That happens most fair weeks, and it's the most avoidable mistake anyone makes during one.

Automechanika runs 8–12 September. Everyone leaves the halls inside the same hour, so tables near the fairground go fast, even for two people.

So we wrote the guide we keep giving people across the bar: the eight-minute walk from the Festhalle side, what Frankfurt itself actually eats (Handkäs mit Musik, Grüne Soße, and the Rindswurst a butcher invented in 1894 so more of the city could eat it), and why the bitterness of a b**r matters far more than the three letters on the badge when there's a curry in front of you.

New week, two heavy hitters on tap. 🍺

Fresh at TapHouse this week:

🐘 Tap 15 · Delirium Tremens — Belgian Strong Golden Ale, 8.5% (Huyghe, Belgium)
🌀 Tap 20 · Ārpus – TDH Riwaka DIPA — Double Hazy IPA, 8% (Latvia)

A Belgian icon next to a Baltic cult favourite — the pink-elephant classic that needs no introduction, and a hand-selected, single-hop Riwaka double-hazy from one of Europe's most hyped craft breweries. Both north of 8%, both worth the trip. And a returning favourite is back — Tap 5 pours our Camba Bavaria IPA again (American IPA, mango & kiwi, 6.6%).

"Is the IPA from India?"

Fair question. It isn't, and hasn't been for about two hundred years.

Four b**rs on our wall right now carry a place in the name and are brewed somewhere else entirely. Camba's IPA is an India Pale Ale from Bavaria. Fuerst Wiacek's Turtledove is a New England IPA from Berlin. Kinn Bryggeri's Sjelefred is an English Brown Ale from Norway. And the Camba Braumeister Edition 99 is a California Common from the Chiemsee.

Swipe to slides two and three: a filtered Camba Pils, and Kräusen Naturtrüb from Brauhaus Faust at 5.5%, which is unfiltered. Same table, same light. The second is warmer and softer, but the two sit closer together than most people expect, and that is rather the point. You can't reliably read a b**r by looking at it.

Our hazy IPAs are cloudy for a completely unrelated reason, and the strongest is 8.4%. So when someone asks for "ein Trübes" we ask back which kind they mean. If the big ones are too much, there are two hazy pale ales on at 5.3%, from Kuehn Kunz Rosen in Mainz and Schwarze Rose.

We hear it most nights, and it's usually the instruction that gets people the two least interesting b**rs on the wall.

The kitchen's back 🎉

From Tuesday 21 July, the full menu is on again — freshly made in olive oil, just the way you know it. The bar never stopped, of course: all 20 taps have been pouring right through.

So come hungry from Tuesday. Butter chicken, fresh naan, that green chutney — the whole spread is back, alongside all 20 amazing brews on tap.

Ab Dienstag, 21. Juli, gibt's wieder die volle Karte — frisch in Olivenöl zubereitet, so wie ihr sie kennt. Die Bar lief natürlich die ganze Zeit weiter: alle 20 Hähne fließen wie immer.

Kommt also ab Dienstag hungrig vorbei. Butter Chicken, frisches Naan, das grüne Chutney — alles wieder da, dazu 20 großartige Biere am Hahn.
