NRW-ers.

Jochen & Monty from made a beer with me. We took their Hoppum IPA recipe and adapted it to 2026.
Packed full of NZ Cascade from Freestyle with a touch of Simcoe and Columbus to add just enough dank.
A touch of light crystal malt to deepen the colour and 7% dextrose sugar to keep the body light.

It’s one of those dangerously drinkable perfectly balanced IPAs.

We’d love to see you at on Saturday 13th from 17.00 to drink it together and have a nice evening in their pretty little beer garden.

I’ll be there a bit later due to another commitment in Duisburg, but Jochen and Monty will hold the fort for the first hour or Two!

New K2 IPA.
This time single hopped with Nelson Sauvin. Early harvest in the whirlpool and dry hop for some gooseberry and citrus goodness. Then finished off with a trial product from - Fresh harvest hop kief which adds just the right amount of weedy dankness.

It’s good.
It’s limited.
It won’t last long.

Happy beer day, Germany.

But.

Imagine a law that is so arrogant to claim that only what they believe can be called beer is allowed to be brewed here (and called beer).
It sounds almost like something the orange man over the Atlantic would say.

Want to brew a dry stout with delicious roasted barley and put „beer“ on the label? IT IS NOT ALLOWED here.

Want to use plastic to filter your beer almost instantly? That’s fine.

I think I’m preaching to the converted here but it does need highlighting how absurd it is.

A rare excursion from using NZ hops, we chose Australia this time and the mighty Vic Secret.

Strong in pineapple and passion fruit, it’s a refreshing slightly dry spring ale that demands repeated drinking. A true Haubitze of a beer.

Our most often brewed beer is back.
Originally brewed by 5 schoolmates for their hometown beer festival in 2018, the Local Legend has been a mainstay ever since.
Absolutely packed with the Old school hop varieties (Citra, Mosaic and Simcoe), it’s the feeling of spring in a can.

Our first Pale Ale brewed in Krefeld.

We were lucky enough to receive some experimental Manilita hops from Freestyle as part of their hop research collective — a proper privilege.

Manilita is soft but far from boring. Think bright grapefruit up front with a subtle tropical edge. If Talus had a younger sibling, this might be it.

If you’ve had a Thief before, you know the drill: a soft malt base, balanced bitterness, and the hops firmly in the spotlight.

Feels like it still needs saying though.

Peace and love. No more idiots in charge.
