✨“Why Indian and Italian?”
Pratyusha and I first met at Sicula Bar, introduced by another lovely customer (Stefania)—about two years ago, if I remember correctly. The very first time I saw her, I remember thinking: “Wow, what a beautiful woman… her features are so incredibly gentle.” 😊
The second time she came by, she was watching the football championship at the bar with her husband. A few more encounters followed, and eventually a mutual friend told me more about her work and said, “You two should definitely create something together.” 💪🏽
Time passed, and one day we finally sat down to talk about what she actually does. And I said to myself: “Woooow… this is beautiful—yes, I love your project.” 😍
A feminist initiative that supports refugee women through the therapeutic power of baking. I was truly fascinated.
A couple of weeks later, we talked again about the idea of collaborating. Christmas was approaching, and I kept thinking about organizing a Christmas Sweet Market 🍰 at Sicula Bar 🌋—just like the ones we used to have at school when I was a child. Every kid brought a homemade cake, and we sold everything for symbolic prices or donations. I still remember those long tables filled with sweets, and the unforgettable smell and joy surrounding them.
At the same time, Pratyusha reached out again, and we met to explore what we could create together. I shared my idea with her, and that’s how the concept of an Italian–Indian Christmas Sweet Market was born:
a fusion of traditional Italian flavors and vibrant Indian tastes coming together to create something truly unique. ❤️
We started meeting regularly, experimenting with recipes, and combining ingredients from our cultures. We made many tests—some challenging, some surprising—but all filled with passion. 👩🍳
And now we are here: proud, happy, and incredibly excited.
We cannot wait to welcome you on Sunday, December 7th at Sicula Bar, and bring to life this project born from love, creativity, and the traditions of our lands. 🥳
