ICONS Drag Festival is a new semi regular drag event. Every year there is a planned Main Event hosted by Berlin drag star Morgan Wood and RuPaul hit maker, DJ Larry Tee. Amanda Le Pore had agreed to take part in the first official festival in the fall of 2022, date TBA. The festival is designed to bring Berlin drag to the next level internationally. The pair has previously done events featuring RuPaul, Boy George, Honey Dijon, Conchita Wurst, Amanda Lepore, Lady Bunny, Sharon Needles, Pablo Vittar, Kiddy Smile, Aquaria, and Jodie Harsh. The first foray included the Q***r Street Food Market provided by Marc from Q***r Spring Market.
Berlin's outrageous nightlife is known for its open minded view on the rainbow of gender identity and performance. The thing that makes ICONS DragFestival so exciting and unique is that it opens up the definition of what drag is and who can do it. ICONS Drag Festival host, Morgan Wood, is no newcomer to Berlin drag. Since beginning to host her own shows in 2019, she has already worked alongside Berlin stars Judy LaDivina, Pansy Parker, Gieza Poke, Absinthia Absolut, Purrja, FKA, HP Loveshaft, Caine Panik and various other members of the Venus Boys.
The ICONS Drag Festival will incorporate fashion, dancing, performance art and will feature original music performed by the latest drag sensations. DJ Larry Tee helped launch the careers of RuPaul, Scissor Sisters, Peaches, various Drag Race UK stars and has worked alongside DJs Radioslave, Frankie Knuckles and Honey Dijon. In fall 2022, the first ICONS Festival will take place in Berlin. Negotiations are already underway with Drag Race and Queen of Drags stars as well as local Berlin kings, queens, dancers, voguers, models and DJs.
