Introducing one of our resident DJs — DJ Magič
From chopping samples for hip hop beats to unearthing dusty grooves on the road, Magič’s journey began with vinyl and never looked back. His early digging was rooted in hip hop culture, which soon led him deep into the crates of jazz, funk, and soul. A pivotal time spent in Bournemouth, UK, brought him into the orbit of the legendary b-boy crew Second to None — whose knowledge and passion opened up whole new dimensions of sound and selection.
Magič is a devoted vinyl collector for nearly two decades, he’s a selector with a wide sonic reach — drawing inspiration from figures like Mr. Scruff, DJ Nuts, or DJ Format. His sets blend rare Brazilian gems, jazz-funk, soul, hip hop samples and their originals, Afro-Latin rhythms, and the occasional detour into jazz-house fusions, dubbed-out grooves, or uptempo deep cuts. Always warm, vibrant, and full of discovery.
In addition to spinning, he documents the global digging culture through his project — sharing interviews with DJs and record store owners, recording travelogues, and releasing carefully crafted guest mixes.
At Cult Hifi, he crafts immersive, narrative-driven sets built on years of exploration and love for the record. Expect the unexpected — and trust that every track has a story.
