Wines of this week!
KTIMA Gerolemo Riesling (Cyprus)
The Gerolemo Riesling is very fresh and undeveloped, showing apple – like flavours and some firmness, but will develop over the next 4-5 years. Brilliant, very pale straw color with slight green hues, pale on edge. This has a fresh nose of limes and lemons with apples and nuances of fresh grapefruit. Good balance sweetness, acidity and alcohol, this is tightly bound and youthful, showing green apple and lime fruit flavours backed by thirst – quenching acidity. A slight textural line adds to the palate presence and along with the crisp acid, provides a firm line and dry finish.
Chateau d'Esclans Whispering Angel Rose (Provence, France)
This has become one of the "must have" rosés from Provence, and the beautifully shaped bottled has made it a customer favorite. Look for ripe red fruits, with hints of minerals and flowers. The fine expression of minerality on the nose, crisp dry palate, bright strawberries on the finish. This delicious bottle is a perfect, easy-quaffing wine for lunch, dinner or a delicious glass anywhere. This beautiful salmon-pink Provence rosé has a very pretty scent of crushed strawberries, peach, rose-water and orange blossom. On the palate, it is wonderfully dry and crisp with delicate summer berry fruits balanced by citrus zest acidity and a deliciously creamy finish. A fabulously sophisticated rosé that is perfect for summer picnics or evening aperitif.
