Curry52 is in the house! The original German curry sausage, known as CURRYWURST, has arrived – served exactly like on Berlin’s famous Ku’damm with sparkling wine!”

The Currywurst is one of Berlin’s most iconic street-food inventions. It was created in 1949 by Herta Heuwer in post-war Charlottenburg, when she mixed British curry powder and American ketchup with a simple boiled sausage — a quick, tasty way to make scarce ingredients exciting.

On the glamorous Kurfürstendamm (Ku’damm), the dish got its stylish upgrade in 1965. Photojournalist Klaus-Peter Bier opened Bier’s Kudamm 195 and started serving the classic curry sausage on porcelain plates with a glass of sparkling wine or champagne. What began as humble street food suddenly became a late-night ritual for celebrities, theatre-goers, and Berliners who wanted a touch of glamour with their curry sauce. To this day, enjoying Currywurst with sparkling wine on Ku’damm is considered the classy Berlin way.

Now you can experience that same original Ku’damm feeling at Curry52 — named after our very own house number — where the authentic German Currywurst meets sparkling wine just like on the famous boulevard in Berlin.

Thanks for all who came to the yesterday :-) Was happy to share visions!

You can attend the first time free of charge (at the end, you simply put in a box what it was worth to you).

If you’d like to come again, just bring one new person I don’t know yet. It’s held on the second Saturday of every month and has been running for 25 years.

It’s wonderful because every guest always meets new people. I started it during my time at the Cannes Film Festival, back in my movie days. It’s always inspiring to hear what other people’s visions are :)

Believed to be one of the oldest cultivated grapes in the world, its origins trace to ancient times when Phoenicians and Greeks first brought viticulture to the island. This versatile grape thrives in Cyprus's unique Mediterranean climate, producing wines with elegant notes of red berries, subtle spices, and a silky smoothness that makes it a perfect companion for gourmet dishes.
