This was copied from a post on the Diamante Valley page . Even for those of us that are not in PZ it should be a wake-up call for what's really going on behind closed doors .
A CALL TO ACTION
JOIN US IN PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATION
As we ask that the PLAN de ORDENAMIENTO TERRITORIAL de PEREZ ZELDON, and any attempts to pass it into law, be stopped immediately so that residents, citizens and landowners can be properly informed of the repercussions of this plan.
WHEN & WHERE?
Tuesday April 2nd 430pm Parque Central Perez Zeldon
Thursday April 4th 1pm Complejo Cultural Perez Zeldon (this is a big one AND THE DAY THE PLAN IS SET TO PASS INTO LAW so bring friends, signs, instruments and whatever it takes to express yourself!)
New regulations that have been intentionally kept out of the public discourse are about to be voted into law THIS THURSDAY APRIL 4th, 2024.
Why does this matter?
Under the PLAN de ORDENAMIENTO TERRITORIAL de PEREZ ZELDON, the municipality of PZ is planning to:
Implement regulations that may force farmers to relocate to cities.
Require large, yearly investments of money for permits controlling the crops farmers grow and the animals farmers raise.
Restrict land owners from passing property rights to their children and families by making it illegal for them to legally divide land parcels.
This looks “green” at first glance. But what does this look like in the long run? Small, local farming families that have passed down land and farming practices for generations will no longer be able to afford to do what they have always done.
They will be forced to move to cities and may have to depend upon government subsidizing to meet their basic needs.
Farm lands, which are the sources of our food and water, will be regulated and controlled.
As farm lands are abandoned, they are up for grabs.
Ironically, while churches and family homes can not be built under this new plan, casinos, nightclubs and hotels WILL BE PERMITTED. All in the name of “protecting the growth and development of land.”
This impacts ALL of us. If these regulations pass, they will not stop with PZ.
WHO does this serve?
NOT the farmers
NOT the families
NOT the environment
