Comedy UN
Started in 2017, Comedy United Nations is the fastest growing comedy club in Shanghai, uniquely offering regular high quality sold out shows in English, Mandarin and Shanghainese. The founder, Storm Xu, has a unique vision of cross-cultural comedy combined with artist development. Hailing from Yangpu district, Storm took the second place at the Hong Kong International Comedy Festival 2018, and he will be the first comedian to ever perform in Chinese and English at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Known initially for their pop-up vibes and predominately local crowds, Comedy UN has expanded to a more international audience to represent the diverse English speakers of Shanghai as well as Chinese speaking comedy enthusiasts. Named as one of the best new community groups in 2018 by TimeOutShanghai, Comedy UN is committed to bringing its audience high quality laughter while developing diverse talent.
In March 2019, Comedy UN announced a move to its new full-time permanent location on the 21st Floor of the Wise Logic International Center. The new venue accommodates a wide range of activities in multiple languages including stand-up comedy, open-mics, international headliners, workshops, artist development days, matinee shows, improv and other community activities. Comedy UN is constantly evolving and taking new suggestions for activities and improvement.
